Job description

WORLD WIDE PROFESSIONAL SOLUTIONS is a project solutions organization committed to implementing lean constructions, collaborative contracting, and execution approaches to enable breakthroughs in performance.

WWPS is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Construction Manager for our fast growing team in Santa Clara, California. The Mechanical Construction Manager (Mech. CM) R&Rs start with Pre-construction activities for proposed packages. The CM is expected to collaborate with the Design Team, Trade Partners, and Owner Representative on the proposed scope of work to capture their Trades scope and the coordination needed from other Trades in order to develop a complete package for the customer. CMs must consider the Safety Factors, access to work, enabling scopes and shut- down/Tie-ins that are needed to perform the work with minimal impact to production and factory operations. Pre-planning, Long Lead Procurement needs, and Early Funding Requests need to be comprehended and identified to meet the customers' Milestones. CMs are fully engaged in schedule development, updates (accuracy of the updates) and Construction Complete reporting in so the packages can be closed in a timely manner. Per Diem is available.
The following is a detailed list of the primary tasks of the Construction Manager, some of which may be delegated to jobsite personnel, but which require his or her close supervision.
    • Safety: Safety planning is to be included in all pre-project planning and budgeted as a crucial part of the project cost.  Jobsite walks will include Safety Observations which need to be addressed and recorded in Hensel Phelps' SAFE database. 
    • Project Planning: During Positioning and Programming the CM is responsible for the development of the Scopes of Work with Work Group Leads and coordinating with all other Trades to ensure their plan includes the tasks and durations that will influence the completion dates. CMs will meet with Intel PMs/Construction Coordinator to develop Milestones. They will be responsible for Pull Plans the include Designers (Disciplines as needed), Estimators, CMs (Disciplines as needed), PIT Leads and/or Area Superintendents, Trade Leads (Disciplines as needed), Scheduler and any personnel required to develop an accurate schedule to meet the customer's needs. Projects are either design packages or ICRs (change requests).
    • Package Reviews: Review the packages throughout the design process (Programming, SD, DD, CD and IFC) and walk with the Trade Partners for input and constructability feedback. Ensure the Trade Partners and engaged in the reviews and their comments are implemented into the design reviews.
    • Trade Allocation: Assist with Trade Allocation for the packages by determining which Trade Partner is the best equipped to perform the scope of work successfully.
    • BIM Assistance: Identify Laser scan areas and ensure proper scans for design and trades. Model Schedule and Model Reviews for Sign off to field - Scope model conflicts with the BIM Team and coordination with other trades.
    • Funding: CM is a crucial part of the Pre-con stage for packages. Once the scope of work is identified, CMs, in collaboration with the Pre-con Team, will determine if funding for the project needs to be adjusted to meet the project Milestones.
    • Work Group Lead: Mechanical CM is responsible for scheduling and Leading the Mechanical Work Group. This group consists of customer representatives (Engineers and CCs), Mechanical Designers, HP Office Engineers, HP Area Superintendents and Mechanical Trade Partners (along with other TP disciplines) as needed for addressing coordination issues, constraints, design verification or discrepancies and coordination with Customer Operations for testing, Shutdowns, Tie-ins to the Facility. Other topics include Safety, RFIs, Submittals, Specification deviation over view and upcoming Packages and ICRs (Change Requests).
    • Material and Equipment: CM is responsible for the timely procurement and delivery of material and Long Lead Equipment to maintain schedule. Working with the Office Engineer, the CM will monitor the design, submittal, submittal approval, purchase and delivery of Long Lead and Trade Partner Equipment and critical material that is tracked in the Material Equipment List. CM will coordinate the delivery with the OE and shipping company so when the equipment arrives it can be inspected immediately for damage. The shipping and delivery information needs to be communicated to the PITs that are installing the equipment so they can prepare to receive it. 
    • Offsite Inspections: When required, the CM will perform offsite quality checks for Equipment and System fabrication checks ensuring that specifications and design criteria are followed to avoid costly delays during installation.
    • System Status Matrix: The Mechanical CM is responsible for completing the System Status Matrix (SSM) on all mechanical equipment and systems. The SSM is a collaborative effort with the other disciplines (Process, Electrical, I&C, LSS, Telecom and Security) to ensure all services that are needed to start up and operate the Mechanical Equipment are listed, installed and commissioned.
    • Commissioning: The CM will send the completed SSMs to the commissioning Representative along with a request to have the equipment entered into VEO HQ. The equipment status is then tracked to completion
    • Scheduling: CM and Area Superintendent will work on the schedule updates to reflect the progress of the project(s). Identifying constraints and adjusting the schedule is crucial in managing the customer's expectations and will keep them well informed of impacts and possible schedule changes. Updated information will help in making decisions on manpower increases or extending work days or hours to maintain schedule. Make sure activities are complete.
    • Trade Management:  Set up Pre-mobilization and Prep Meetings with Field Engineer's assistance. Make sure Trade Partners are aligned with regards to Hensel Phelps 6 Step Process. Attend PITs to report and manage changes with the PITs and Trade Partners. Give/receive updates for RFIs and assist with troubleshooting. Review and initial Pay Apps with OE.
    • Coordination of Work: Facilitate crucial coordination between other discipline CM's.
    • Inspections and Sign Off:  Participate in Design Verification walks that include Initial Inspections, Follow up and Final Inspection in coordination with QA/QC Trade Partners. Follow up with Commissioning items in VEO HQ to make sure all parties are completing their activities in a timely manner. 
Education & Experience
    • Minimum of 3-5+ Years' Experience in executing or managing construction in the Semiconductor, Industrial, Chemical, Gas and Oil or other manufacturing markets.
    • AA/BS/MS degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Equivalent Work experience preferred
$175,000 - $200,000 a year
*Pay depending on experience level, Per Diem is available in addition to salary*
