Mechanic - Turf Equipment

MTI Distributing, Inc., a subsidiary of The Toro Company, is the Upper Midwest’s leading supplier of products and services to the green industries. Through a combination of exceptional products and superior service, MTI is in the business of providing landscape beautification solutions to golf courses, schools, municipalities, landscape contractors, and independent dealers.

We currently have an opening for an EquipmentTechnician in our Brooklyn Center, MN location.  The successful candidate will be an outstanding mechanic with above average diagnostic, hydraulic, electrical and mechanical skills.  The position is full-time, Monday - Friday, 1st shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Repair and refurbish equipment professionally, accurately, and timely.
• Install necessary parts, check fluid levels, test and assure proper operation.
• Conduct repairs so that units are in and out of the shop in a timely manner.
• Work with manager to provide accurate and timely estimates.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of shop area.
• Safely use forklift.
• Provide excellent customer service via phone or in person by answering customer inquiries about equipment issues.
• Complete necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
• Work as a team in successfully completing the job.
• Work with other technicians to check quality of work.
• Close workorders via computer and check list after completion of work.
• MTI provides specialized tools specific to our products, however the successful candidate provides his/her own hand and power tools. 

Education and/or Experience

• Technical degree (2yr.) or equivalent experience required.
• Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in diagnosing problems with gas and diesel engines, hydraulics and electrical systems.
• Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, Parts based lookup tools, Diagnostic Software 
• Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
• Strong customer service/communication skills.
