Job Summary
The purpose of the Mechanic Shop Supervisor position is to perform skilled work involving the maintenance and repair of gasoline or diesel-driven motors and related auto equipment, machinery, and tolls. This position functions in a Supervisory capacity to monitor, assist, train, and mentor the shop mechanics.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

- Directly Supervises and coordinates the activities of shop mechanics.
- Performs complex preventive maintenance, overhaul, and repair services on automobiles, light and heavy trucks, mechanical equipment, and other gasoline and diesel-driven motors. Follows manuals and using hand tools, power tools,
- Services include changing oil, air filters, fuel filters, fan belts, radiator hoses, and sparkplugs; inspecting, adjusting, and replacing necessary parts; and tuning and adjusting engines.
- Inspects and performs brake repairs, including the replacement of master brake cylinders, brake pads, calipers, and fluid lines.
- Repairs and welds automotive bodies; removes, repairs, and replaces components parts or assembles automotive systems.
- Diagnoses malfunctions, installs new ignition systems, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.
- Uses welding equipment, standard charts, and hoists.
- Responsible for purchasing all parts and supplies necessary for properly maintaining the vehicle fleet.
- Promotes safety in the garage/shop by utilizing proper tools and having a clean safe environment.
- All other duties as assigned.
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Five (5) to Seven (7) years of related experience in automotive and heavy equipment maintenance and repair; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Training - DOT Safety inspection certified automotive air condition technician. CDL
Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, sitting, keyboarding, lifting 50lbs or more, climbing, crawling, stooping, bending, twisting, speaking (English), hearing, seeing (color). Regular and reliable attendance.
Must have basic knowledge of internal combustion engines, must have basic electricity knowledge, must have hydraulic knowledge, must have basic computer skills, must have CDL driver's license, and licensed lift truck operator.
