POSITION OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanic III: HVAC Construction Journeyman to join the fast-growing STR Mechanical Team. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and strong problem- solving skills, as well as a high level of customer service.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Purchase, replace and maintain required tools as listed for New Construction HVAC
  • Installer as approved by the Project Manager
  • Arrive at jobsite at scheduled time and location as dispatched
  • Operate and maintain company vehicle to STR standards
  • Follow instructions from Project Manager
  • Report problems with company tools or vehicle promptly to assigned Project Manager
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude at all times
  • Unload truck supplies and equipment
  • Demonstrate proficiency in customer service, written/verbal communication and team-work skills with Contractor Representatives, Supervisors, Co-Workers, and other Sub-Contractors on job sites
  • Other duties as assigned by Project Manager
  • Assist with retrofit and commercial installations upon request from Project Manager
  • Participate in quarterly inventory
  • Attend and participate in employee meetings, trainings
  • Attend ALL jobsite meetings with GC construction supervisor
  • Demonstrate skill independently within budgeted labor hours to AMI quality standards
  • Proficient with any HVAC function: design, installation, duct work of systems
  • Can do all jobs to labor budgets
  • Proficient at leading and coaching of Level 1 and 2 Mechanics
  • Review project daily with Project Manager. Determine needed materials, supplies, equipment, labor, or tools
  • Complete paperwork daily, recording all hours and materials used on each job, in Accurate manner
  • Complete quality project on or below budgeted labor hours, to AMI quality standards.
  • Responsible for overall quality, organization, and neatness of jobsite
  • Ability to read blueprints and lay out duct
  • Order materials ahead of time
  • Understand OSHA / STR Safety rules and regulations
  • Ability to use crane hand signals
  • Plan work ahead 2 weeks in advance
  • Install Gas piping per code
  • Install refrigerant piping and perform startup on split systems
  • Responsible with the Installer for keeping installation vehicle clean and neat both inside and outside in keeping with the company's professional image
  • As needed or required, completes all paperwork in a neat, accurate, thorough, and timely manner
  • Represents the company professionally, honestly, and ethically in all business matters and concerns.
  • Arrive at jobsite at scheduled time and location as dispatched
  • Operate and maintain company vehicle to STR standards
  • Demonstrate willingness to invest in and maintain tools used in the installation of HVAC equipment
  • Demonstrate willingness to invest time training to advance position. Also demonstrate ability and willingness to train Level 1 and 2 Mechanics.
  • Demonstrate commitment to customer service and communication skills
  • Performs similar/other duties as needed or assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a HVAC Construction Journeyman
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read instructions, wiring diagrams, blueprints, to install and replace HVAC equipment and parts
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to operate, or learn to operate, all necessary tools and equipment
  • Available to work flexible hours and on-call shifts as needed
  • Ability to frequently lift 75 pounds and ability to lift and regularly carry items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Sufficient physical ability to work in awkward places and from ladders or scaffolding as required by projects
  • Physical ability to endure high and low outside temperatures

ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT

This position reports to the local service manager, and has a responsibility to the entire service team and all of our customers.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Mental stamina for problem solving and prioritizing multiple tasks.

Environmental Requirements

Will be required to work in a field environment, traveling to multiple customer sites on a daily basis.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job:

the employee is regularly required to use hands to operate computer keyboard, reach with hands and arms.

The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit.

The employee is continually required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds without assistance.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
