Job Summary:
Brentwood Health and Rehab is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented MDS Coordinator to join our team. As an MDS Coordinator, you will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring the accuracy of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments and documentation in compliance with regulatory guidelines. Your role will be crucial in maintaining accurate patient records and facilitating effective communication between healthcare providers.
Duties:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' medical conditions, including physical, psychological, and social factors
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop individualized care plans based on assessment findings
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of MDS assessments in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Review medical documentation to ensure compliance with coding guidelines and accuracy of diagnoses
- Utilize utilization management principles to optimize patient care and resource allocation
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to identify areas for improvement in documentation and coding practices
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines, regulations, and reimbursement policies
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and regulatory compliance
Experience:
- Previous experience as an MDS Coordinator or similar role in an acute care setting is preferred
- Proficiency in utilizing electronic medical record systems such as Athenahealth or Cerner
- Strong knowledge of ICD-9 coding principles and DRG classification systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to review complex medical documentation accurately
