The County of San Diego seeks part-time temporary physicians to work as Temporary Expert Professionals at the County of San Diego Public Health Services department, Epidemiology and Communicable Disease division. Under general direction, incumbents perform a variety of duties necessary for the identification, diagnosis, and control of communicable diseases within the population. This position works closely with the medical and laboratory community, institutional settings or hospital infection control practitioners.
Ideal candidates have completed a formal training program for a specialty, as approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or possess a certification of eligibility for certification by an American Specialty Board. Internal medicine, infectious disease, pediatrics, family medicine, or preventive medicine are preferred. A valid license to practice medicine in the State of California, must be maintained throughout employment in this class, is required at the time of appointment.
Malpractice Insurance: Pursuant to the provisions of California law, the County of San Diego, through its self-insurance program, provides coverage for its employees regarding malpractice and liability within the scope of employment.
Special Note: Persons serving in positions in the Unclassified Service do not accrue tenure and serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.
REQUIREMENT
Valid license to practice medicine in the State of California and verifiable experience in general medical practice.
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
