Large hotel in West Houston is looking to hire a MClub VIP Lounge Attendant 3 evenings that can also work in our Gift Shop 1-2 mornings a week. This is a floater role for our outlets department.

 

 

You will act as an ambassador of the hotel in the MClub and Gift Shop by providing food and beverage refreshments as well as special assistance to our guest, providing them information about local area attractions, offering a wide selection of alternatives for guest satisfaction. This position requires someone with advanced "people skills"and excellent customer service and communication to provide the guest with an experience that exceeds expectations!

 

 

Essential Duties MClub: 

  • Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome.
  • Promptly respond to guest inquiries including being pro-active and show initiative anticipating guest or operational needs.
  • Organize, set-up and monitor food & beverage program in Concierge Lounge to ensure availability at all times to guest.
  • Responsible for the set up and maintaining of the breakfast buffet while insuring that all areas are kept clean and presentable at all times.
  • Assist guest with food and beverage, including serving guest and cleanup. 
  • Field guest complaints; Listen and extend assistance in order to resolve problems.
  • Remain calm and alert in the event of emergency situations and heavy hotel activity.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.

 

Essential Duties Gift Shop:

 

  • Greet customers when they enter the shop and serve guests beverages and/or food while offering assistance in locating merchandise, while upselling additional items to enhance profitability.
  • Display merchandise in a neat, eye-appealing manner. Restock items as necessary, check expiration dates, and discard expired items. .
  • Complete customer purchases, process all payment types, and process returns, refunds, and exchanges.
  • Maintain appropriate cash levels in cash drawer, turn in all property monies and receipts, and ensure deposits/cash drops are verified.
  • Secure shop and monitor customer activity to prevent losses due to merchandise theft and damage.

 

 

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS:  The hotel functions seven (7) days a week and twenty-four (24) hours per day. Due to the seasonal nature and business hours of a hotel, candidates must realize it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift as business demands. Additionally, it may be required to assist other positions in department as needed or as directed by immediate supervisor.


Job Requirements:

 

 

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using another combination of skills and abilities. 

  • Excellent command of English; verbal, reading and writing, and can effectively communicate information.
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills with appropriate behavior and appearance expected at a 5-Star hotel.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers with high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy.
  • Basic mathematical and calculator skills.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, up to entire shift; walk and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions. 
  • Able to extending arms; frequent bending and stooping and ability to carry and/or lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations.  

 

Other Requirements:

  • Food Handlers and TABC license/certificate.
  • Prior customer service, hospitality and/or server experience required.
  • All employees must maintain high standards of personal appearance, which includes a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).
  • Flexibility to work other shift times on occasion when needed and open to be trained in other guest services positions.
