Are you interested in positively impacting students’ lives? We are seeking candidates for a collaborative, energetic, and innovative full-time, tenure-track faculty position to teach mathematics. Instructors are responsible for establishing and promoting an inclusive and effective learning environment to maximize student learning. Instructors may be assigned to teach a variety of mathematics courses such as college algebra, statistics, pre-calculus and in traditional classroom and/or blended/hybrid settings as needed in the Science and Mathematics Division at Delta College.
POSITIONACCOUNTABILITIESANDESSENTIALFUNCTIONS:
  • The successful candidate must demonstrate experience, skills, and commitment to fostering an environment of belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrate an inclusive and culturally relevant philosophy of teaching that provides learning opportunities that meet the needs of all students.
  • Commitment to providing a learning environment that addresses the historical and contemporary sociocultural frameworks that provide a more holistic representation of the field of mathematics.
  • Teach at least 30 equated credit hours annually of mathematics courses, in a variety of settings including the main campus, Saginaw Center, Midland Center, or online. Online modalities include hybrid, asynchronous, and synchronous.
  • Focus on supporting and assessing student learning and academic achievement to ensure student success.
  • Develop innovative, dynamic, and engaging learning environments that support student learning and success.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of diversity based on the college statement on diversity.
  • Commit to ongoing educational and professional growth.
  • Attend and participate in discipline, division and college meetings.
  • Possess minimum technology skills and understanding of a course management system.
  • Demonstrate teaching effectiveness which supports student learning and encompasses pedagogies for student success to meet course and/or program requirements.
  • Work in a variety of settings which promote quality learning.
  • Possess effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills.


Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree or higher in mathematics or related field with at least 18 contact hours of relevant coursework in the mathematics sub-discipline for which courses are taught, or a professional degree with relevant coursework
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to Equity and Completion
  • Demonstrated proficiency in relevant technologies
  • Experience working in a diverse environment
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom climate and design curricula that foster greater sense of community

Additional Experiences Considered
  • Ability to teach on a Delta campus and in an online setting
  • Teaching experience at the community college level
  • Recent experience in teaching mathematics using inclusive teaching practices
  • Pedagogy is informed by belonging, equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Online, Hybrid, or blended teaching experience
  • Familiarity with learning management system software
  • Demonstrated ongoing professional growth
  • Demonstration of collegiality
