In this, the Mathematics Division is proud of its progressive and rigorous construction of curriculum and team-based collaboration that serves diverse learners. The Mathematics Teacher is a full-time position starting in August 2024. Candidates must have strong content knowledge and differentiation skills to meet the needs of all students with varied backgrounds and interests. Skill in fostering student collaboration and classroom discourse will serve as an asset. Experience in collaborating with colleagues to create learning standards and common assessments, team-based remediation, curriculum, and continually improving learning strategies are needed as part of the continuous improvement mindset of teachers and teams.
Exceptional candidates have experience mentoring and helping multilingually-assisted students develop literacy within a mathematics classroom, build a shared sense of belonging, and accelerate learning to help students achieve outcomes. Key pedagogical skills include using standards-based grading models, classroom differentiation, integration of instructional technology, instruction through the lens of social-emotional learning, classroom engagement through tasks & discourse, and the design of inclusive classrooms honoring the diversity of ability, heritage, and beliefs.
Qualifications:
Qualified applicants must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator's License (PEL) with a secondary Mathematics endorsement.
Certification in ESL or bilingual mathematics education is favorable.
