Sagemont Preparatory School is seeking a Math Teacher to join our collaborative team and support our high school students. As a Sagemont Prep teacher, you must be enthusiastic, warm and have excellent communication skills. We're also looking for someone who can work independently and prioritize tasks according to their importance. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in mathematics.
Responsibilities of this position:
- Teach Math classes, to include Algebra I and II
- Collaborate with other teachers to develop and incorporate interdisciplinarity into the courses
- Responsible for the ordered arrangement, appearance, and décor of the classroom environment.
- Attend all staff meetings and in-house training programs
- Submit weekly lesson plans to the upper school director.
- Establish a non-punitive method of classroom discipline, seeking positive rather than negative methods to correct student behavior
- Monitor and assess student progress.
- Mentor students, fostering academic achievement, personal responsibility, and individuality Maintain close communication with the principal and parent regarding student issues, conferencing as deemed necessary.
- Proactively work with parents to ensure their support and involvement in their child's education
- Ensuring that all students are on task at all times during a lesson.
- Clearly enforcing and emphasizing school rules, values and expectations.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Mathematics or a closely related field
- At least 2+ years of teaching and training experience at the high school or college level
- Ability to absorb, synthesize and present ideas, texts, and concepts with precision and confidence from diverse disciplines
- Eagerness to build supportive relationships with students in and beyond the classroom
