Employment Term: part-time / "as needed" - NTE 20 hours per week
Salary: $45.00 per hour
Qualifications:

1. WV Professional Teaching Certification in Elementary Education with Master's degree in Math preferred
2. Have no fewer than five (5) years of successful elementary teaching experience
3. Have knowledge of the six (6) key elements of 21st Century Learning
4. Have knowledge of research-based assessments
5. Be proficient in technology
6. Have the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with students, parents, and staff members

Position Summary: The goal of the Math Interventionist is to assist students who have been identified as at-risk in math and to provide a continuum of support to help them get on grade level. The interventionist develops materials and lesson plans; conducts small group instruction; evaluates progress; and assesses student performance. The interventionist meets with teachers and parents to interpret student data and inform them of each student's strengths, weaknesses, and ongoing progress. Additionally, the interventionist collaborates with identified teachers who share the at-risk students to serve and develop a transition plan between the intervention classroom and the regular classroom.
Responsibilities:

1. Consult on a consistent basis with classroom teachers on matters relating to math instruction using our progress-monitoring instrument as a base.
2. Assist in the scheduling and administration of benchmark assessments.
3. Analyze data to assist in selecting students for math intervention programs in all grades.
4. Design interventions and write lesson plans detailing methods and materials using research-based intervention program.
5. Assist in the evaluation of ongoing intervention programs and make recommendations for change to administration.
6. Assist teachers and other administrators and/or supervisors in implementing the school math program, guidelines, etc.
7. Help teachers diagnose math strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate research- based techniques and materials along with supporting school-wide math initiatives.
8. Facilitate communication with parents about their child's participation in intervention programs.
9. Keep the parents informed as to the purposes and progress of the math program.
10. Work with support staff and school administrators to facilitate the coordination of the math program and initiatives.
11. Work with the classroom teacher, administration, and district personnel to coordinate math instruction designed to meet the individual needs of students.
12. Attend county intervention meetings.
13. Work with the classroom teacher to monitor student progress.
14. Become proficient with West Virginia policies and guidelines for SPL instruction, documentation, etc.
15. Serve students in a small group setting.
16. Perform other responsibilities as may, from time to time, be assigned by the supervisor.

Reports To: Building Principal; EPIC Administrator
Evaluation: As required by State Board Policy 5310. The evaluation process outlined in this policy will be followed for professional and service employees.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed drugs while in the workplace. Alcohol and controlled substances which affect employee productivity, safety or judgment in the workplace will not be tolerated.
