Beaumont Independent school DistrictJob Description JOB TITLE:Math CoachCLASSIFICATION:ExemptREPORTS TO:PrincipalPAY GRADE:Teacher Salary Scale187 Days LOCATION:Assigned CampusDATE REVISED: 4/20/2017FUNDED BY: This position is funded, at least in part, by a federal grant, ESSER. Employment in this position will be expressly conditioned on the availability of full funding, through the federal grant, for the position. This funding is available for a limited time.

When full funding for the position is no longer available, the position will be eliminated, as permitted by law. PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a comprehensive school-wide numeracy program which facilitates learning; for modeling of best practices lessons which use numeracy-based learning strategies; for coaching teachers in all curriculum areas on how to enhance students' numeracy skills; for identifying staff development needs of the school and for providing staff development related to numeracy as part of the problem solving process; and for working with school and community groups, such as the Leadership Team, Lead Numeracy Team and learning communities, to help all students reach their highest potential. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:Bachelor's Degree in Math from accredited university, requiredMaster's Degree, preferredTexas Supervisor CertificationValid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject/level assignedHighly Qualified by NCLB definitionDemonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assignedSpecial Knowledge/Skills:A proven/successful track record of teaching at-risk students in public schoolsSuccessful K-12 classroom teaching experience in the area of mathKnowledge of curriculum and instructionSpecial knowledge of math instructional deliveryWorking knowledge of classroom instructional supervision, preferredWorking knowledge of curriculum/instructional alignment and deliveryAbility to instruct/teach students and manage their behaviorUtilize effective data-based problem-solving skillsDemonstrate effective collaboration skillsEmploy effective coaching skillsCoach teachers in effective instructional strategies in a variety of content areasUse effective strategies for differentiating instructionExhibit knowledge of standards-based curriculumIntegrate technology in classroom instructionStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillExperience:Minimum of three years of successful K-12 classroom teaching experienceMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Instructional ManagementCreate a numeracy environment conducive to effective instruction.Facilitate instruction based on current math/study/thinking research throughout the total instructional program.Demonstrate (model) math/learning strategies in classrooms.Evaluate numeracy needs within various subject areas and collaborate with teachers and administrators to interpret, use assessment data to improve instruction, and problem solve.Use assessment data to assist administrators with placement of students in appropriate instructional or intervention programs.Lead faculty in the selection and use of a range of assessment tools as a means to make sound decisions about student numeracy needs as related to the curriculum and to instruction.Conduct regular meetings with classroom teachers to examine student work and monitor progress in order to support teacher reflection and action.Assist classroom teachers with analysis of formal and informal assessment data on their students to determine student response to instruction.Provide, upon request, individual diagnostic testing.Assist the school's curriculum personnel in planning for and implementing the accountability goals associated with the School Improvement Plan.Work with the school's Leadership Team, Lead Numeracy Team, and other constituent groups to determine the school's strengths and needs for improvement in the area of numeracy in order to improve students' reading, writing, and communication skills and content area achievement.Assist teachers with planning, sequencing, and scaffolding of instruction.Participate in team reviews concerning academic progress of at-risk students who are not responding to interventions.Work with feeder pattern staff to assure articulation from elementary to middle and from middle to high school.Attend scheduled meetings and parent conferences.Assist the school's curriculum personnel in providing services to special populations.Professional Growth and DevelopmentProvide in-service training and follow-up coaching to assist classroom teachers in the use of math/learning strategies in their classrooms.Work with teachers individually, in collaborative teams, and/or with departments, providing practical support on a full range of math strategies.Observe and provide feedback to teachers on instruction related to numeracy development and content area knowledge.Participate in district-level in-service meetings and assisting in the coordination of district level in-service offerings.Continue professional growth and strengthen professional teaching knowledge, skills, and strategies through an ongoing program of workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work.Maintain a collection of professional and math/learning materials related to math which reflect current research.Provide staff development for teachers, volunteers, parents, paraprofessionals, administrators, and other appropriate personnel as needed.Coordinate school-based weekly professional development in math aligned with the K-12 Research-based Math Plan and the District Master In-service Plan.Professional ResponsibilitiesEncourage numeracy and life-long learning.Maintain and promptly submit accurate, complete, and correct records and reports as required by law, by grant regulations, by district policy, and by administrative directives.Facilitate or serve as a member on school numeracy groups and committees.Establish rapport with faculty and staff.Work to promote productive relationships with and among school staff.Attend and participate in all required meetings.Uphold school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policies.Take all reasonable and necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.Public RelationsInterpret the school's math/learning program for staff, parents, and members of the community.Serve as part of a countywide committee in developing activities and programs to disseminate information.Publicize the school's math/learning program.OtherKeep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees, as requested.Conduct oneself in a professional, ethical, and responsible
