Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Coordinator, the Administrative Specialist II will perform administrative support duties for client services. Implement and adhere to agency and program policies and procedures to provide established guidelines around customer service, confidentially, and cultural competency while providing quality customer service maintaining strict confidentiality.
Clinical Services:
-Meet, interview, and direct public health clients in accordance with the Postpartum Newborn Home Visit, Preventive Health, and Immunization programs agency policies. Process information, complete medical records and enters all client information into applicable electronic applications and third party billing.
-Answer telephone providing customer service to, schedule appointments, as needed.
-Screen and update eligibility based on program requirements.
Office Support and Training:
-Attend relevant program and agency training and meetings.
- Ensure necessary materials and resources are utilized to prepare and submit required reports.
-Ensure office supplies are ordered and maintained in accordance with procurement policies and procedures; state issued vehicle maintenance and reports are submitted timely;deposits are completed and change funds are adhered to according to the state and regional policies and procedures.
-Assist with Switchboard, as needed.
Emergency Preparedness:
-In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DHEC employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
This position is located within the Rock Hill Health Department located in York County.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Agency Additional Requirements:
High School diploma or GED and two (2) years of medical office/clinical clerical office experience which includes public contact or an Associates' Degree in Secretarial Science or a related field and one (1) year of medical office/clinical clerical office experience. Must have advance computer skills and office equipment knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in Spanish/English; and one (1) year experience with electronic health and medical records.
Additional Comments
This position is part of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control's Maternal Children Health (MCH). The work performed supports DHEC's mission to improve the quality of life for all South Carolinians by protecting and promoting the health of the public and the environment. Effective July 1, 2024, this position will transfer to the South Carolina Department of Public Health created by Senate Bill 399 which provides for the creation of the Department of Public Health to assume the public health-related functions of DHEC.
Driving Record: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver's license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
