We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Materials Planning Analyst - Temporary .  

The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurement and the design and manufacture of Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring availability of inventory for assigned customers are satisfied within the allocated time frame.

  •  Serving as focal point for customers

  •  Coordinating with customers to resolve issues and ensuring performance

  •  Acting on schedule releases and follow up for on-time shipments

  •  Ensuring timely delivery and availability of parts to support customer requirements

Basic Qualifications:

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

  • Accurately gauges the impact and cost of errors, omissions, and oversights

  • Utilizes specific approaches and tools for checking and cross-checking outputs

  • Processes limited amounts of detailed information with good accuracy

Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.

  • Demonstrates experience participating in productive collaborative processes

  • Assists in communicating shared goals with diverse groups and parties

  • Helps solve business problems and meet business goals through collaborative processes

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Identifies and documents specific problems and resolution alternatives

  • Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder

  • Develops alternative techniques for assessing accuracy and relevance of information

  • Helps to analyze risks and benefits of alternative approaches and obtain decision on resolution

  • Uses fact-finding techniques and diagnostic tools to identify problems

Customer Management : Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with customers of product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.

  • Follows procedures in carrying out routine customer management tasks

  • Uses electronic systems or tools to record/retrieve supplier information and carry out transactions with customers

  • Resolves routine customer issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command

  • Works with customers to ensure that purchases meet delivery date and quality specifications


Top Candidates will also have:

Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, etc)

Experience working a Customer Service related role

Associates degree

Additional Information: 

This position does not offer relocation and is located in Champaign, IL or Morton, IL.

This position is full-time/ Temporary and is eligible for limited medical benefits
