SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Under the guidance of the Technical Manager, Production Planning, the Materials and Inventory Planner will plan inventory and coordinate the flow of materials to meet production and delivery expectations while minimizing inventory levels. The position will work directly with applicable functions (Purchasing, Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Logistics, and others) to ensure appropriate and reliable supply of incoming materials and on-time shipment of customer orders. The Materials and Inventory Planner will reflect demand changes in SAP to ensure high accuracy of forecast needs and ensure accuracy in inventory balances, item usage history, and forecasting.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to learn or perform these essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Maintain inventory at target levels while achieving required service and operating standards.
  • Analyze data and collaborate with relevant functions to help determine and apply appropriate ordering, inventory, and replenishment policies.
  • Assist purchasing in coordinating and planning supplier deliveries.
  • Coordinate the sampling and testing of raw materials and subsequent material movement between warehouse locations and the production floor.
  • Monitor inventory status and perform inventory management according to company policies, including ensuring the accuracy of Bill of Materials (BOM) and system (SAP) inventory balances.
  • Work with MFG Specialists to ensure (and perform) timely and accurate system inventory adjustments for material consumption (e.g., process orders, cleanings / change-over orders, MFG protocols, etc.).
  • Perform timely post campaign inventory reconciliation activities to ensure project costs are appropriately documented and allocated.
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of Excess and Obsolete Inventory. Work directly with Operations and Finance personnel to properly disposition and establish required inventory reserves.
  • Reviewing actual inventory consumption against forecast plans (e.g., PACCT). Make necessary adjustments for repeat production campaigns.
  • Monitor material supply flow and identify current and potential product shortages. Work cross functionally to Identify and resolve problems relating to inventory and supply issues.
  • Develop and maintain SAP master recipes and production versions.
  • Schedule and release manufacturing process orders based on material requirements planning (MRP).
  • Address stakeholder / customer queries and concerns in a timely fashion.
  • Develop process improvements for inventory, manufacturing and production control systems.
  • Assist in maintaining monthly Key Performance Indicators. Provide reports and requested information as needed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's preferred. HS Diploma requied.
  • 3+ years relevant work experience (e.g., GMP production environment and with an ERP system) may be considered.
  • An in-depth knowledge of industry requirements and technical / operations know-how is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; sit and to talk, hear or smell. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, or kneel, crouch. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
