Position Summary: Reporting to the Sr. Director, Global Supply-chain, the Materials Manager will have complete oversight of all demand planning, master scheduling, production control, and material planning at G&W Electric’s global headquarters in Bolingbrook, IL. This position covers a broad range of responsibilities and interactions with senior leaders in purchasing, operations, engineering, sales & marketing, and finance to ensure the right materials are available as needed to fulfill revenue plans for a range of electrical distribution products.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of production planner/schedulers in all facets of materials management (demand planning, production planning, capacity planning, etc.) in a high mix, low volume environment with multiple sites and product lines to maximize operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead functional gap assessments for MRP system (JD Edwards) and partner with IT and other functions to optimize MRP effectiveness.
- Develop a vision and long-term strategy and roadmap related to the systems, processes, and skills for the future of the Materials Management function.
- Design, develop, and implement solutions, utilizing LEAN principals for material control activities to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Work with warehouse manager and procurement to improve processes and procedures that reduce overall inventory levels, while maintaining appropriate balances to support production needs.
- Develop appropriate metrics and set goals for annual performance, ensuring objectives are met for production plans and material availability.
- Actively engage in the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SI&OP) process, coordinating with sales & marketing, finance, operations, and procurement to ensure production schedules align with material availability to fulfill customer orders.
- Help identify supply-chain risk and work to mitigate impact on operations and to revenue plan.
- Hire, train, and support production schedulers, material planners, and support staff.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Supply Chain or Business Management.
- Minimum of SEVEN (7) years in progressive leadership roles encompassing production scheduling and planning, material planning, and logistics/warehouse functions or similar materials management responsibilities.
- Expertise in understanding and utilization of ERP and MRP systems, preferably JD Edwards.
- Demonstrated success in developing teams, organizations and individuals to operate with higher levels of performance through goal setting, accountability, and career development.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma practices, partnering with peers and global process owners to develop and maintain best practices and standards.
- Warehousing and Inventory Control experience preferred.
- Ability to travel internationally
