Duties
As a Materials Expediter (Handler), your duties will include:
  • Facilitating movement of materials and supplies in accordance with project objectives, scheduling requirements, and/or space allocation plans.
  • Receiving, sorting, tagging, and routing the movement of a variety of maintenance equipment and building materials among multiple operational areas and facilities.
  • Reporting unresolved material shortages and/or recommended stock quantities.
  • Monitoring working condition of tools, equipment, and machinery used by warehouse operations and shop facilities personnel.
  • Reviewing inventory lists to identify stock replenishment needs for projected workloads.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

  • You will be required to obtain a successful pre-employment physical examination by a licensed physician certifying your ability to perform the duties of this position. A physical exam may not be required if a comparable agency approved examination was performed within the last 12 months. The cost of the exam will be reimbursed by the agency.
  • This position may involve duties to be performed on hard surfaces in areas that require standing, stooping, and bending in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries supplies, materials, and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment or with assistance from other workers.
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Employee may be exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, and other injuries inherent in a warehouse environment. In certain work situations involving hazardous materials, wears protective clothing, respirators, and other specialized protective devices, in addition to their basic protective equipment (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, safety shoes, and earplugs). When performing driving duties, employee operates vehicles in all types of traffic and weather on public roads (or equivalent), including heavy traffic, varied highway speeds, over complicated roads, and interchanges, and is exposed to the danger of serious accidents.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard for the WG-6900 Warehousing And Stock Handling Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
Minimum qualifications for trades and labor positions are determined by evaluation of job elements. You must meet at least 2 points on the screen-out element(s) and obtain an average of at least 2 points on all of the job elements in order to be considered qualified for this position.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and/or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours worked per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

How You Will Be Evaluated
You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
Category rating and selection procedures will be used to evaluate applications from this announcement.
