Job Description
The Material Handler plays a critical role in Lean Manufacturing by ensuring the smooth flow of materials and information within the production process. As a Water Spider, you will work closely with the production team, logistics personnel, and other stakeholders to optimize efficiency and eliminate waste in the manufacturing environment. Your primary responsibility is to maintain the continuous flow of materials, tools, and information to support uninterrupted production.
Responsibilities
Use Lean tools such as Kanban and Just-in-Time (JIT) to replenish materials at the point of use.
Deliver materials and components to production workstations in a timely manner to prevent delays.
Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods, and communicate with procurement of low level materials and avoid delays.
Ensure all materials are within the validated date and passed quality control.
Assist in documenting all appropriate materials information in LHR and DHR.
Collaborate with production operators, team leads, and supervisors to understand material requirements and production schedules.
Provide timely updates on material availability and address any concerns related to material flow.
Minimize non-value-added activities such as excess movement, waiting, and searching.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and standard work procedures.
Optimize routes and sequences for material deliveries to reduce travel time and improve productivity.
Ensure that workstations are properly organized and free from clutter.
Promote 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) for maintaining a clean and organized workplace.
Assist in continuous improvement of production processes, 5S, lean improvements and waste reduction.
Shift schedule: Monday - Thursday: 5 am - 3:30 pm
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.
2-5 years of related experience.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, such as Just-in-Time (JIT), Kanban, and 5S is preferred.
Lean Certification is a plus.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Familiarity with microsoft office and windows operating systems.
