POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Material Receiving Inspector shall manage the daily activities by performing quality control inspection of incoming materials for use by the organization. These inspections may consist of supplier submitted document compliance, visual defects, dimensional compliance, assembly, testing verification as well as some onsite supplier inspection, if required.

 

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

●       Visually Inspect raw materials for quality and workmanship defects

●       Visually inspect major equipment for quality and workmanship defects

●       Perform dimensional inspection on critical to quality features for compliance to Purchase Order requirements

●       Inspects materials, products, and work in progress as well as interprets drawings, procedures, and instructions for conformance to specifications and/or test equipment to meet specifications

●       Tests and measure finished products, components or assemblies for functioning , operation, accuracy, or assembly to verify adherence to functional specifications

●       Mark items for acceptance or rejection, record test results, release materials for use, recommend needed repairs or issuance of supplier corrective actions, and complete all other documentation requirements

●       Participate in root cause investigations

●       Confers with other departments regarding inspection results

●       Assists in training other personnel as required

●       Other tasks as assigned

 

JOB SKILLS:

●       Good organizational, time management, and communication skills

●       Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

●       Ability to read and interpret documents such as drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Purchase Orders, procedures and specifications

●       Ability to communicate written and verbal to various levels of the organization as well as suppliers

●       Ability to use basic mathematics in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

 

EDUCATION & TRAINING:

●       High School Diploma or Equivalent

●       Associates degree or better in Applied Science or any other technical degree is a plus

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

●       ASNT SNT-TC-1A qualified level I NDE in Visual and Magnetic Particle inspections

●       OSHA 10 safety certification

●       Strong Ability to interpret compliance documentation (purchasing orders, certificates of conformance, etc.)

●       Strong aptitude to utilize various dimensional inspection equipment

●       Strong ability to interpret ASTM and ASME compliance requirements

 

 

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

●       ASNT SNT-TC-1A qualified level II NDE in Visual and Magnetic Particle inspections

●       CWI or ACWI is a plus

●       ASCM (CSCP) Certified Supply Chain Professional

●       8D problem solving methodology

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Ability to exert up to 30 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal; and conduct extensive reading.
