Materials & Process Engineer II
The Level II Engineer performs M&PE engineering tasks of moderate scope and complexity, focusing on applying the language and basic principles of MP&E, supporting internal Moog Military Aircraft needs, and improving Moog product materials, analytical approaches, special processing, and reviewing new designs for applications of special processes from a design for manufacturing perspective.
This role supports production, problem solving, and improvements specific to Moog Military Aircraft internal processes and strategically supports supply chain outside processes critical to internal make components. Internal processes supported include, but are not limited to heat treat, chemical processing (such as chemical conversion coating and passivation), non-destructive testing (Penetrant, Magnetic Particle, Nital Etch, X-Ray), cleaning, electron beam welding, and brazing. In addition, this role supports manufacturing engineering in the continued internal processing challenges of components that have undergone external special processing including, but not limited to, chrome plating, HVOF coating, anodizing, impregnation, and nitriding.
*This role is in a production environment, not a lab setting.
Responsibilities:
Review and recommend special process requirements on new components and legacy components undergoing DFM review.
Initiate tactical assignments supporting ongoing production through problem solving and interfacing with corporate M&PE as required to conduct component inspection and engineering analyses.
Create, develop, and maintain special process documentation, including primary and rework routing steps required to produce and/or return product to engineering requirements.
Support site training and educational initiatives under the guidance and direction of the M&PE education function.
Provide MP&E technical leadership for the East Aurora Moog Military Aircraft Site.
Provide M&PE support for long term projects and recommend process equipment solutions under the guidance and direction of the East Aurora Moog Military Aircraft Site through identification, justification, and implementation of capital equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
BS/BT with 2 years related experience or MS/MA with 0 years related experience in one of the following fields: Materials/Metallurgy, Chemical/Chemistry/Electro-Chemical, Electrical/Electronic Materials, Polymers, Welding, Ceramic, Physics, Industrial and Mechanical, Nondestructive Evaluation, Forensic Analytical Science.
For NDE field it requires Level III certification
This position requires access to United States Export Controlled information.
Pay Disclaimer:
The base pay range for this opportunity is $66,955.20 - $123,635.20 per year. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
