The Material Planning position manages the procurement of all raw materials and packaging components into the Axium Packaging manufacturing facilities. Regular activities include expediting and de-expediting of raw and packaging materials, supporting plant production schedules, collaborating with suppliers, and optimizing inventory levels. This position requires working with internal Axium Packaging teams and suppliers to improve vendor reliability and responsiveness while ensuring factory alignment. The Material Planner acts as a focal point in managing the MRP – material resource planning processes and a key team player within the end-to-end Supply Chain Planning pillar. The key metrics for success involve: 1) On-Time Delivery 2) On-Specification Quality 3) On-Cost Procurement.
Key Attributes & Position Responsibilities:
· Responsible for procuring Raw Materials and Components in a timely manner; ensuring delivery prior to scheduled production date.
· Responsible for managing supply levels based on immediate demand, forecast quantities, and material lead times.
· Maintain delivery schedules daily based on physical counts and SAP inventory
· Daily responsibilities will include entering and issuance of purchase orders to vendors that include all proper documentation attached, daily communication with suppliers to manage on-time open order delivery and working directly with multiple departments (Engineering, Operations, Customer Service, Shipping/Receiving, Material Coordinator, and Accounting). Close out PO’s and requisitions on a timely basis.
· Analyze purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy of information.
· Identify and resolve any potential supply delays while keeping affected departments informed of any materials delays or problems.
· Respond to supply shortages, quality issues and support of emergency orders outside of normal office hours as needed.
· Support cycle counts, month end inventory reconciliation, year-end and review of aged inventory, participate as needed.
· Team player with a positive and cooperative attitude in a highly cross-functional organization.

Experience & Required Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations, or related business and technical field (preferred)
· 2+ years’ experience in a Material Planner, Sourcing, Procurement, Supply Chain Analyst, and/or Operations Planning position strongly preferred
· Experience using SAP, JDA, or similar skills utilizing Material Requirements Planning tools (SAP experience and knowledge is strongly desired).
· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office; especially Excel and Access technical skills
· Strong analytical, organizational, mathematics, and communication skills.
· APICS (CPIM) certification preferred.
· Ability to handle multiple priorities.
· Demonstrate adaptability when faced with a new challenge.
· Passionate and detailed in task execution.
· Ability to be flexible and open to change.
· Some travel required as needed to support projects and initiatives (<5%).
· Experience in leading projects with cross-functional work groups.
· Possess organizational and communication skills.
