About Houston


ExxonMobil's state-of-the-art campus north of Houston serves as home to its Upstream, Product Solutions and Low Carbon Solutions businesses and their associated service groups. The facility opened in 2014 and accommodates more than 10,000 employees and visitors.

What role you will play in our team


The Material Logistics Advisor will work with the value chains (Upstream, Product Solutions, Low Carbon Solutions, Global Projects) across the globe supporting oil and gas activities (production operations, major development projects and drilling ventures) that require transportation or storage of materials, equipment, or consumables. This role will help these organizations to troubleshoot and resolve complex logistics problems, optimize logistics work across all areas of logistics operations (such as marine, aviation, ground transportation, shorebase areas and specialty support required by project and drilling activities), therefore expert knowledge in at least one of these areas expected. This role will support and/or lead the planning and study of transportation best practices and implementation, including support with organizational staffing, digital tool rollouts, High Consequence Risk Scenario development and implementation, and the development of contracting strategies.


The Material Logistics Advisor will be based in Houston. The work may require some travel to developing countries, new operating areas, and established areas. Brief assignments (one week or longer) in country may be necessary to best meet job requirements. Prior international experience along with knowledge of Logistics Best Practices as well as a strong operational background is important to achieving overall success. The Material Logistics Advisor requires upstream logistics, operations, and/or supply chain experience along with leadership, problem solving, and coordination skills.


This role is on the bench for a number of other senior positions in ExxonMobil Supply Chain, including the Logistics Principal, or infield/embedded Logistics Manager positions.


What you will do


  • Serve as the global process owner for Material Logistics for all Infield Logistics Strategy, Planning, and Execution Support
  • Consult on the establishment, deployment and sustainment logistics related activities for production operations, upstream development projects, decommissioning and/or exploratory drilling ventures
  • Help identify, share and deploy best logistics operating practices across organizations and projects relating to transportation of materials, equipment, or consumables
  • Support the creation and refresh/update of business strategies by providing a global logistics perspective
  • Provide technical expertise and professional experience to help troubleshoot / resolve complex logistics problems
  • Help optimize existing and/or new logistics operations to support cost accountability metrics and value capture targets
  • Evaluate and recommend digital, data, and advanced analytics solutions
  • Simplify and standardize Material Logistics processes to enhance user experience and engagement
  • Develop and maintain a solid network of functional technical experts (both inside the Company and across the logistics industry) to gather competitive intelligence
  • Engage in global high consequence risk assessments
  • Consult with various organizations, internally and externally, on logistics-related items when necessary to assist the value chains
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and facilitate productive work to capture business efficiencies that span multiple affiliates and/or projects
  • Develop, monitor, and update Material Logistics related performance measures and internal/external benchmarking standards
  • Provide recommendations associated with optimizing modal service offerings
  • Provide input to the Logistics Best Practice and improve Material Logistics knowledge capture and curation

  • Knowledge of oil and gas producing Logistics Operations (shore base, marine, aviation, ground transportation, and field accommodations operations)
  • Knowledge of Logistics Best Practices & Cash Opex Management Best Practice
  • Strong Safety Culture and Contractor Interface Management knowledge and competency


Preferred Qualifications/ Experience


  • Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to organize/coordinate activities of others and identify need for discipline expertise/input when required
