Under the direction of the Materials Coordinator, the Material Handling Laborer will conduct material and waste management in a government contracted facility.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Manage a central waste and storage facility in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Handling, transporting, and shipping, various types of waste and discarded materials including but not limited to universal waste, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, recyclable materials, etc.
- Knowledge of diverse aspects of environmental protection, pollution prevention, supply, safety, engineering concepts and practices applicable to hazardous materials and waste management and control.
- Experience operating the following equipment: Car, Truck, Forklift, Dolly, Pallet Jack, Compactor, Bailer, Scale, Can Crusher, Torque Wrench.
- Ability to read, and write fluently, communicating clearly when completing reporting requirements.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Experience operating the following equipment: Car, Truck, Forklift, Dolly, Pallet Jack, Compactor, Bailer, Scale, Can Crusher, Torque Wrench.
- Knowledge of jobsite safety and occupational health requirements including personal protective equipment, hard hats, safety goggles, steel-toed boots, fire safety, electrical safety, slip/trips/falls prevention, motorized equipment safety, warehouse storage/shelving, blood borne pathogens.
- Ability to read, and write fluently, communicating clearly when completing reporting requirements.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Pre-Employment & Worksite Requirements
- Must be able to successfully obtain a Federal CAC (DoD ID card) This includes filing administrative documents, submitting fingerprints, and passing an approved background check.
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification and qualified to wear a full-face respirator. Complete HAZWOPER recertification as necessary.
Physical Requirements:
- Perform physical work including lifting items of 40 pounds, bending, reaching overhead, and standing for long periods
