DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Material Handler is responsible for the transportation of finished goods and raw materials to designated places within the physical plant as directed by the warehouse plan and Shipping Supervisor, Shipping Lead, Shipping Specialist and Shift supervisor. The Material Handler must be a licensed forklift driver. This position performs visual quality checks and must comply with warehouse management rules and practices. The Material Handler is also responsible for the organization and overall cleanliness of the warehouse, manufacturing areas, outside garage doors and all pallet areas.
Essential Job Functions
· Operates forklifts and other mobile equipment (including floor sweeper) as needed safely and efficiently.
· Utilizes communication boards and other communication tools to maintain constant awareness of material needs at all production lines.
· Delivers raw materials / repel / flake / split sheet to production lines and equipment, including Repelletizers, to ensure materials are available when needed.
· Delivers packaging material to production equipment to ensure materials are available when needed.
· Transports finished goods from production lines and stages them in designated locations as defined and determined by mgmt.
· Inspects all labels (inventory tags, scrap and finished goods labels) for completeness and accuracy before movement of gaylords, finished goods, etc.
· Complies always with the Mobile Equipment Written Program expectations for the inspection and operation of Mobile Equipment and other mobile equipment related subjects.
· Transports scrap (rolls and boxes) and unused raw materials from production areas to designated areas in a timely fashion to prevent safety hazards and maintain proper storage of materials and scrap.
· Transports and stages rewinds and mill rolls in designated locations.
· Completes packaging of finished goods by stretch wrapping pallets per the work instruction.
· Spot checks weights of finished goods on labels to insure accuracy.
· Visually inspects the condition of all packaging material to verify material is safe to use.
· Operates and understands draw off stations and pipe connections, and draws off and transports material from the Silo Draw Off stations to designated areas. Updates inventory sheets to ensure timely and accurate movement of materials.
· Maintains housekeeping and organization of raw materials, packaging materials and finished goods.
· Empties all production dumpsters and garbage into compactor as needed including building 5.
· Responds to requests for materials or assistance as needed.
· Maintains supply levels (in process and stock areas).
· Maintains all inventory papers in a current and accurate state.
· Updates racks sheets for removal or storage of raw material, flake, and or repel.
· Removes packaging material banding, stretch wrap, etc. from incoming materials.
· Assist with shipping and receiving as needed including the functions of the MXP system.
· Assist the Site Raw Material handler with railcars as needed
· Assist with monthly raw material counts as needed.
· Performs all railcar functions including proper documentation of railcars on night and weekend and / or when the raw material handler is not on site.
· Completes shipping and receiving paperwork as needed.
· Other as needed or required by the extrusion facility.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.50 - $23.00 per hour
