Material Handler Lead (Tube Draw)
Main Responsibilities:
This position will report to – Production Manager
Primary responsibilities include leading and assisting in the onboarding and training of new hires by following the company’s guidelines and processes. This position must complete all required company trainings and certifications for various roles in order to effectively administer and lead trainees’ development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Follow training guidelines and processes to efficiently train new employees in various Material Handler roles. These roles include but not limited to: floor positions, pit duties and other various Material Handler positions as needed.
- Analyze and communicate the data from Material Handler training program to Production management.
- Maintain a professional and positive attitude.
- Demonstrate and promote all company rules, work instructions, operating procedures, company values, and standard behaviors.
- Assist and lead projects for continuous improvement.
- Comply with Government Regulatory requirements.
- Prevent, eliminate, and report any unsafe acts or incidents.
- Identify and assist in the removal of the 7 lean wastes.
- Strive for customer satisfaction, while being committed to meeting the customer requirements.
- Demonstrate good housekeeping habits; support and maintain 6S projects.
- Support production teams by filling in for Material Handlers, floor and pit personnel coverage when needed.
- Promote continuous improvement in all areas of EHS.
- Visually inspect and discard nonconforming product.
- Communicate to team members and supervisors any out of specification findings or abnormalities.
- Assist and carry out OPEX projects.
- Assist with alley breaks.
- Promote teamwork in plant.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or (GED) or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training, which provides the desired knowledge, skills and abilities of this classification.
- Effective communication and writing skills.
- Ability to train others.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding in carrying out detailed but uninvolved written and/or oral instructions.
- Must be able to read and interpret written documents when required. • Basic computer proficiency
- Average math skills are required.
- Must be forklift certified and drive motorized equipment.
- Must be able to wear a respirator and climb heights.
- Demonstrate ability to lead employees and maintain a professional attitude.
- Microsoft Word and Excel basics
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT :
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
- The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is required to lift, bend, twist, talk and hear.
- Must be able to wear a respirator.
- Must be able to climb heights and work in confined spaces.
- The employee must lift and/or move up to and including 35 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must be able to work in both cold (0 degrees F) and hot temperatures (120 degrees F)
- The employee must be able to successfully pass the requirements to drive a motorized vehicle.
- The employee must be able to work rotating shifts.
While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is regularly exposed to working near moving mechanical parts/equipment, airborne dust, hot molten glass, airborne glass particulate. The employee is exposed to hot and cold weather conditions, risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to loud noise in the work environment.
