Material Handler I - 1st shift
BASIC FUNCTION
Under general supervision, executes the proper Staging, Handling, Labeling, Transportation, and Storage of all goods within and related to the Givaudan Samples facility. Executes basic inventory management principles with guidance from leadership.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Executes the following per written procedure:
- Discards - removes obsolete materials from inventory while following guidelines associated with hazardous waste handling.
- cycle counting - as assigned by scanning items and working with the department Lead to resolve inaccuracies.
- Pick for Samples Lab - stages raw materials for production and returns used inventory to the warehouse.
- Maintains Obsolescence budget by completing accurate inventory records (weights, proper storage, and correct status).
- Maintains a clean, organized work area by meeting or exceeding General Housekeeping, and Master Sanitation requirements.
- Contributes to the overall safety of the department by following all safety guidelines.
- Responsible for inventory accuracy, and reports all errors timely.
- Other tasks as assigned
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
- Basic math and writing skills
- Strong communication skills
- Computerized warehouse management system experience preferred
- Familiar with basic warehousing procedures
- Basic understanding of work prioritization
- Basic PC skills, including competency in MS Office products
- Basic knowledge of hazardous material identification
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a warehouse environment managing hazardous and non-hazardous inventory through electronic systems preferred.
- A current driver's license is required to operate company vehicles.
- Ability to be fit tested, and trained in the use of a respirator.
- SAP-managed inventory experience preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Excellent attendance, flexibility, enthusiasm, and a positive approach to work performance.
