We are currently recruiting for a Day Shift Material Handler to join our team! The Material Handler will play a crucial role in supporting our Warehouse departments. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a warehouse or manufacturing type of environment however, we are willing to train! This is an excellent opportunity for students!
Responsibilities:
- Reads production schedule, customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
- Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
- Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to the production floor.
- Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
- Marks materials with identifying information.
- Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
- Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
- Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
- Arranges stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other workers.
- Uses a computer to enter records.
- Compiles worksheets or tickets from customer specifications.
- Drives lift trucks to transport stored items throughout the plant or to pick up items from department locations for shipment.
- Maintains inventory records.
- All other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- One year of experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment preferred
- 1-2 years of forklift driving experience required
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
