Material Expediter (HAZMAT) processes truck loads (TLs), less than truck loads (LTLs), air clearances and Small Package shipments utilizing the following systems: CMOS, ETA, and TGET. Verifies Transportation Account Code (TAC) documents as required. After receipt of necessary information for shipments, contacts Commercial carriers either by telephone (most used) or email to begin the selection process for low cost Transportation Service Providers (TSPs). Once TSPs are chosen for the mission, communicates specifics of the mission i.e. date, time, location, type of equipment required, etc. to Shipping/Receiving Clerks for processing. Receives list of drivers as a confirmation from the TSP and then assists in processing the Commercial Bill of Lading (CBL) for movement as needed. During loading, the Material Expediter visually confirms the load is assigned to the proper TSP at the ramp. After loading cargo, signatures are obtained from the Commercial driver. A packet of information on the movement is created for use as documentation for timely payment to TSPs. As required, processes air clearance of cargo through CMOS. Processes shipments of Hazardous Cargo and Ammunition Shipments as required.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
- Assist in the development of load plans, as required
- Verifies Shipment requests are properly completed
- Provides technical expertise to Units
- Ensures accurate cost estimates are given to Units and/or Customers
- Processes Hazardous Material and Sensitive items shipments
- Assist in contacting TSP as needed to ensure Zero Defects
- Ensures Sensitive Items shipments are properly released
- Daily checks packets of CBLs to ensure timely submission into SYNCADA
- Must be able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Must possess the ability to work well under pressure with tight deadlines
- Performs other duties and assignments as required
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Perform work in conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, working in confined spaces and at heights while standing for long periods of time.
- In the event of a Mobilization may be required to work an uncommon tour of duty including nights weekends, and holidays.
- Extensive interaction with the customers is required.
- Position involves extensive interaction with customer and being able to work under pressure.
- Willing to work overtime as required and cross train as directed.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
- Able to move throughout assigned areas.
- Job consists of walking or standing, frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching on a daily basis.
- Must be able to lift a min of 10lbs and a max of 50lbs unassisted.
- Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment in designed areas, such as face mask, eye, hand, head, and footwear.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- Hazardous Materials Certification (HAZMAT) required, must obtain and maintain certification within six month of position.
- Extensive interaction with the customer is required.
- Position involves extensive interaction with customer and being able to work under pressure.
- Willing to work overtime as required and cross train as directed.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years Transportation experience
- 3-5 years in a Leadership Position
- Effective organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate up and down the organizational structure and strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong Leadership skills are a plus.
- Must understand importance of contractual requirements to ensure delivery of positive results in relations to the PWS’s scope
SECURITY CLEARANCE:
- Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Must be able to sucessfully pass a background check.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)
- NAC-I clearance required
INSTALLATION REQUIREMENT:
- To be qualified for this position you must comply with the government customer’s requirement that you either provide proof that you are fully vaccinated for COVID-19, as defined by the CDC, or agree to undergo and provide results of weekly COVID-19 testing.
- As of now, to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 you must have received either two doses of Pfizer BioNTech Vaccine, two doses of AstraZeneca/Oxford Vaccine, two doses of Moderna Vaccine, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson Vaccine, and two weeks must have elapsed after the final dose was administered.
