Job description: This role will be instrumental in helping AVA Material control Supervisor to receive, stock, ship, and manage inventory effectively and efficiently. This critical role will collaborate with crew members to support production. This includes assisting in the workflow and storage of material to deliver the line what they need, when they need it. Material Control Coordinator will be responsible for but not limited to assisting with labeling received material, cycle counts, shipping mods, operating equipment such as forklift, and verify safety standards are met.
The Material Coordinator will manage all daily shipping and receiving operations. The Material Handlers will assist in processes outlined by the Material Control Coordinator as well as their manager. A successful Material Control Coordinator is coachable, timely, well-organized, focuses on process improvement, and communicates effectively and transparently.
Responsibilities:
Use Global Shop (ERP) software to track, put away, assign bin location, transfer, issue, deliver, check, prioritize and route orders
Verify the accuracy of quantity and quality of incoming deliveries and resolve any discrepancies.
Manage and organize receiving documents; pick/pack slips, bill of ladings, etc.
Mark materials for identification
Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs
Leverage manufacturing best practices to assist with direct flow of inbound material
Inspect material and create labels for inbound material
Keeping a well-maintained and updated account of stock and inventory
Deliver clear and transparent communication of shipping and receiving activities across applicable workstreams and work centers
Engage and collaborate with warehouse, purchasing and other leaders to optimize processes
Ensure compliance to legal regulations and company policy surrounding hazardous and other materials
Keep all material handling equipment in the best condition by ensuring regular maintenance with the facilities team
Maintain storage areas to ensure that inventory is protected and complies with safety standards
Report to management on activities and issues
Material Coordinator will be expected to:
Move levers or controls that operate lifting devices, such as forklifts, lift beams with swivel-hooks, hoists, or elevating platforms, to load, unload, transport, or stack material
Move controls to drive gasoline- or electric-powered trucks, cars, or tractors and transport materials between loading, processing, and storage areas
Manually or mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices, or other transport vehicles
Position lifting devices under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, or boxes and secure material or products for transport to designated areas
Inspect product load for accuracy and safely move it around the warehouse or facility to ensure timely and complete delivery
Have a strong understanding oF GS
Coach and mentor material handlers
Other duties as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Requirements:
Possess 2-5 years prior experience with forklifts and other similar material handling equipment. Certified to operate the specific class vehicle and formally trained in the equipment they are operating. Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing. Solid knowledge of logistics operations and standard material handling processes. Experience in reading and reporting issues from pack slips/BOL. Good understanding of KPIs related to inbound material. Regular communication with production to ensure material management aligns with their needs. Operate forklift and maintain up-to-date forklift certification.
Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, knowledge of ERP software/data entry related to work order processing and inventory management, open to coaching and mentoring, excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and risk mitigation mindset, ability to quickly prioritize with a sense of urgency.
