Job Overview
To develop and maintain suppliers for all production parts in accordance to quality, cost and delivery requirements while seeking continuous improvement. Responsible for the overall management of material requirements and control necessary for support of the manufacturing process.
Scope
Each planner responsible for:
- Supplier base management of ~$100 million in annual purchases.
- Reducing physical inventory in line with KLTD targets. Maintaining production schedule while carrying ~1 MOH of inventory.
- Managing 1250 active parts.
- ~25 suppliers ranging in size from million-dollar annual revenue suppliers to multi-billion dollar revenue suppliers.
- Past due % control to allow production schedules to be maintained.
- Avoiding work stoppage due to late or missing parts (work stoppage is ~$50,000.00/day in labor along with potential loss of sales / market share). Failure to perform work duties properly effectively shuts the plant operation down and results in significant cost in expedite costs to overcome.
- Minimizing obsolescence for new model introductions allowing no more than $30,000.00 per model (0.075% of purchased material per model within order time fence).
- 10% reduction in warehouse / logistics costs annually through improvements in supplier packaging to improved labeling (barcode versus manual receiving).
- Understanding all FTZ and CTPAT compliance regulations and training suppliers. Responsible for ensuring suppliers adhere to compliance related items on a daily basis to avoid fines that can be up to $10,000.00 per occurrence.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Supplier development to expand business, improve financially, reduce their in-house and total cost, and improve their deliveries. Provide direction and support to build CMO / Supplier partnership relations with a long term approach.
- Set up and maintain SAP settings with accuracy & promptness including Info Records, Source List, and MRP related Material Master settings.
- Create manual orders and/or review MRP generated orders (checking accuracy) promptly and make sure suppliers have acknowledged receipt of orders.
- Ensure orders are received form suppliers on the specified due dates through expediting and overall purchase order management to prevent production stopages and workforce downtime.
- Coordinating and deciding dispositioning of rejected parts in a prompt/cost effective manner to prevent production stoppages and workforce downtime.
- Develop and implement inventory reduction projects for supplier base to meet top management's inventory reduction and months on hand (MOH) target levels.
- Resolve PO discrepancies-including pricing, quantity, and shipping issues.
- May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned.
