About the position
The Marketing Specialist is responsible for the coordination of Internet Society’s social media channels and website. Working closely with the Senior Digital Marketing Manager and the Senior Web Manager, the Marketing Specialist will have hands-on involvement in the day-to-day execution of social media and website updates, thus will play a critical role in Internet Society’s digital presence.
Capable of multitasking, switching from one digital environment to another, the Marketing Specialist juggles a variety of executional demands all the while ensuring timely updates, alignment with brand standards, content standards, and tone of voice before publishing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Social Media Production
- Support the Senior Digital Marketing Manager in implementing a global social strategy for Internet Society channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, etc.)
- Create short- and long-term promotion calendars for Internet Society’s global social channels based off of upcoming content, events, and organizational initiatives
- Schedule and post compelling content daily to the Internet Society’s global social channels
- Develop toolkits and templates for the regional Internet Society social media channels, staff, and/or community to use, aligning messaging with the global strategy
- Monitor channels and engage with followers daily
- Report on quarterly engagement and identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Support development and management of paid campaigns
- Create graphics following Internet Society brand guidelines
Website Support
- Ongoing content updates, maintenance and archiving using standardized templates for internetsociety.org site, as well as for our affiliated sites (afpif.org, ndss-symposium.org, globalencryption.org, etc.)
- Scheduling, proofreading and publishing blog posts
- Coordination with translations team on Spanish and French content and creation of respective pages
- Website administration tasks (fixing broken links, SEO and accessibility fixes, clean up of unused images and documents, archiving and redirecting of older content, etc.)
- Provide quarterly and by request website analytic reports
- Other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience
- Degree in Communications or related field
- Multitasker at heart
- Digital environment is your jam, and where you thrive
- Experience with WordPress content management system (CMS), including knowledge of Gutenberg editor features, development of content and usage of plugins
- Knowledge of website performance, usability and accessibility standards (WCAG) and user experience best practices
- Experience with Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram is required. Experience with TikTok, Mastodon, or other emerging social networks a plus
- Proven design capabilities using tools like Canva, Photoshop, and/or Illustrator
- Understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) and Google Analytics, (GA4 is a plus)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- English as first language, knowledge of Spanish and French is a plus
- Commitment to the Internet Society’s mission, values and objectives
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability interact in a multicultural and collaborative environment

Compensation and benefits for this position will be paid in local currency and based on the country and geographic location’s local salary and benefits market data for the position. Exact pay will be based on factors including but not limited to relevant qualifications, experience, geographic location, education, business and organizational needs.
