The Marketing Specialist is a hybrid role, with matrixed reporting. Two-thirds of the job responsibilities will be related to day-to-day production and distribution needs of various marketing products such as virtuoso.com digital advertising, publications, and travel catalogs, reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing Production. The remaining one-third of the position will cover event marketing, reporting to the Senior Product Marketing Manager, Network Products. This part of the role consists of development and execution of all aspects of assigned event collateral marketing projects, including planning, editing, proofing, and art direction; providing direction to staff and freelance designer/copywriter contributors; and monitoring progress to achieve desired outcomes.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prioritize requests, create project timelines, and work closely with Marketing Production and printer(s) to successfully deliver event marketing projects.
- Provide direction and collaborate with in-house and freelance copywriters and designers, track expenditures to stay within budget, meet timelines, and manage toward achieving event marketing project key objectives.
- Manage internal and external review and approval processes for event marketing projects, provide feedback, and implement feedback to ensure the most effective end result.
- Follow established project management processes.
- Collect partner advertising that will run in Virtuoso’s publications, catalogs, and virtuoso.com. Communicate ad specs and deadlines to participating partners. After initial request, continue to keep in touch with partners until final creative is received. Review ads to ensure there are no content issues (direct booking, typos, incorrect validity dates, etc.) or production issues (size, low-res images, missing bleeds, etc.). Responsible for final review before press/cycle start.
- Responsible for the successful production of virtuoso.com digital ads on a two-week cycle, including loading content to the website and validating accuracy.
- Review advisor, agency, and consumer variable data personalization printed on Virtuoso’s publications, travel catalogs, and direct mail.
- Verify creative and production vendor invoices are within budget. Oversee Concur invoice coding to ensure accuracy.
- Provide marketing support as needed to the team.
Educational and Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or related field
- 3 years minimum print marketing experience
- 3 years of professional experience in Marketing, Advertising, or related field
- Project management experience is required
- Experience writing and editing marketing materials
- Strong writing, proofreading, and verbal/interpersonal skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Able to collect and analyze information, problem solve, and make decisions
- Strong collaboration skills
- Ability to self-start and work independently
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Internet navigation is required
- Experience within the travel industry preferred
- Forward thinking, curious, and creative
Travel Requirements:
- Infrequent travel may be required to attend company events (1-3 trips per year).
- Travel will be primarily domestic but may include some international.
Type/Nature of Contacts:
- Internal: Daily contact with Virtuoso staff.
- External: Regular contact with external travel partners, vendors, and designers.
