Job Summary
** Hybrid Work Environment - Must reside on Oahu **
Pay Range: $57,629 - $88,159
Note: Individuals typically begin between the minimum to middle of the pay range
The Marketing Communications Specialist is responsible for helping to manage the execution of complex marketing campaigns supporting HMSA's lines of business, programs, services, and brand.
The position acts as a liaison between Communications and HMSA business areas, and works across teams to manage, deliver, and coordinate advertising, social media, and other deliverables associated with marketing plans. This includes regular reporting to assist with assessing the effectiveness of campaigns and making necessary adjustments.
The position will collaborate with the Director, Marketing, to plan, direct, implement, and monitor the performance of campaigns that are of critical importance; work directly with and develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders; and consult with internal teams to ensure alignment and consistency. Areas of focus may include:
  • Membership growth and retention
  • Budget management
  • Digital and traditional (print, TV, and radio) advertising
  • Email marketing and direct mail campaigns
  • Social media
  • Performance analytics
  • Promotion of new products and services
  • Campaign evaluation and success metrics
  • Market research planning and evaluation

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree and three years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  2. Strong writing and editing skills.
  3. Strong verbal communication skills.
  4. Project management skills.
  5. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Strategic planning and project management.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive marketing plans and multiplatform campaigns to engage target audiences.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of various marketing plans, best practices, and guidelines.
    • Contribute to strategic marketing plans to promote HMSA's brand.
    • Collaborate with leadership to plan, direct, and implement marketing strategies to support key plans and initiatives.
    • Partner with and advise internal stakeholders on best strategies, tactics, and channels to deliver messages.
    • Build positive relationships with HMSA stakeholders.
    • Partner with departments and resources within and outside of the organization to reach desired objectives.
    • Support both internal and external department-related events.
    • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of existing marketing and communications content and channels, and build the right frameworks, tools, and messaging as a foundation to move HMSA forward.
    • Manage and oversee the successful implementation of new and innovative marketing and communications channels based on research and measurement.
  2. Create and oversee content development.
    • Oversee the planning and implementation of assigned marketing plans and projects and corresponding content.
    • Identify, develop, and/or edit timely, relevant, and engaging marketing communications, such as digital content, video, email, social media, brochures, and presentations.
    • Build a community where the intended audience feels welcomed, proactively takes the desired action, and participates in conversations.
    • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of marketing channels, such as email, e-newsletters, digital displays, social media, events, presentations, and more.
    • Partner with other departments to ensure proper messaging and relevancy, ensuring consistency of messages.
    • Coordinate with Communications creative teams (e.g., graphic artists, video team, web team, etc.) to ensure creative content is aligned with marketing concepts and goals.
  3. Feedback and measurement.
    • Develop feedback mechanisms to assess effectiveness of initiatives and campaigns (e.g., performance reports, market research, etc.).
    • Measure effectiveness of messaging and marketing vehicles to adjust content and tactics accordingly.
    • Analyze campaigns and translate anecdotal or qualitative data into recommendations and plans for revising marketing plans.
    • Compile reports for management showing return on investment.
  4. Stay updated on trends.
    • Connect with peers inside and outside HMSA to ensure we are leveraging marketing best practices.
  5. Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
    • Work closely with larger Communications team to provide support when needed.
