Job Description
The Marine Mechanic is responsible for repairs, maintenance, and refitting vessels. Each vessel’s needs require the ability to change gears at the drop of a hat. Mechanics are expected to communicate repairs needed and recommended to supervisors and clients. The level of professionalism displayed by Mechanics directly reflects an image of the company to the company’s clients.
Responsibilities:
- Complete oil services on main engines and generators on vessel
- Trouble and repair mechanical issues on vessels and repair as needed
- Conduct sea trials on vessels to assess repairs
- Conduct sea trials to oversee mechanical survey of vessels for brokers and owners
- Maintain a high level of professionalism
- Provide a high level of customer service to all customers and vendors
- Maintain high productivity without sacrificing quality
- Provide a high level of Quality Control
- Operate in a safe manner
- Support a strong commitment to world class customer service.
- Interior or exterior cleaning of vessel after your work is completed.
- Lay down protection on vessels to prevent damage to vessel.
- Inspect product’s overall condition so it will be acceptable to the customer.
- Ability to evaluate problems and issues found during a project and clearly communicate issues with management.
- Perform diagnostics and repair of all types of marine systems
- Perform service and rigging work on sailboats and yachts
- Handle multiple work orders and utilize worklist to show parts or vendor issues
- Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical accessories in boats including bilge pumps, charging systems, and steering systems.
- Actively work with management to perform all tasks needed to run the business.
- Be able to work independently or with a team.
- Perform shop maintenance as required.
- Perform other duties, assignments and responsibilities as needed.
- Inform manager of any required repairs on vessels
Required Skills:
- Experience with general yacht systems, AC/DC electrical systems, yacht operations, and marine electronics, generators, is highly desirable.
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Knowledge of excel and Word
- Knowledge of reconditioning procedures
