KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Gel Coat Application and Repair:
- Apply gel coat to new or repaired fiberglass surfaces.
- Color-match and mix gel coat materials to ensure a perfect match.
- Repair chips, scratches, and other imperfections in the gel coat.
2. Painting and Finishing:
- Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, cleaning, and masking.
- Apply primer, paint, and finish coats using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Achieve a high-quality finish with attention to color matching and blending
3. Candidates with Fiberglass Repair and Fabrication Experience:
- Assess damage to fiberglass structures and components on boats.
- Perform repairs on fiberglass hulls, decks, and superstructures.
- Fabricate new fiberglass parts and components as required.
- Apply fiberglass layers and resin to form strong, seamless surfaces.
4. Maintenance and Safety:
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols, particularly when handling hazardous materials.
- Properly dispose of or recycle materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with other team members, including other technicians and supervisors.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding project status, challenges, and needs.
- Provide input on process improvements and best practices in boat repair and refinishing.
EXPERIENCE
1. At Least 2 Years of Experience in Painting and Finishing Techniques:
- Proficient in preparing surfaces for painting, including sanding, cleaning, and masking.
- Skilled in applying primer, paint, and finish coats, both manually and using spray equipment, to achieve a high-quality, durable finish.
- Experience in working with a variety of paint types and finishes, adapting to the specific needs of each project.
2. At Least 2 Years of Experience in Fiberglass Techniques:
- At least 2 years experience in assessing and repairing damage to fiberglass structures on various boat types.
- Skilled in applying layers of fiberglass and resin for durable, high-quality finishes.
3. At Least 2 Years of Experience in Gel Coat Techniques:
- Expertise in applying gel coat to new and repaired fiberglass surfaces, achieving a flawless appearance.
- Experience in repairing chips, scratches, and imperfections, ensuring a smooth and consistent surface.
- Preferred a tech with experience in color matching and material mixing, restoring boat exteriors to their original condition or better.
- Conducting quality checks to ensure the highest standards of workmanship.
- Committed to maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Well-versed in environmental regulations and safety procedures related to boat repair and refinishing.
