Position Summary:
The Composites Engineer is a key member of our manufacturing engineering team; the position is accountable for minimizing variation, increasing productivity, and increasing efficiencies. The position requires working with a continuous process improvement mindset. The manufacturing engineering team works cohesively within our production process to deliver a timely and quality product.
Job Responsibilities:
- Accountable for composite manufacturing processes to optimize product flow and reduce variation
- Responsible for process improvement via root cause analysis, solution development, documentation, training, and implementation
- Acquires and analyzes process and data to understand and measure process improvements
- Implement new technology and equipment into composite fabrication processes to achieve efficiencies or meet customer expectations
- Assist with new model prototyping and introduction to production
- Responsible for accuracy of drawings and bills of material related to assigned projects
- Create component and material layout drawings for composites build documentation
- Document as-built information to ensure accuracy
- Create, implement, and catalog Engineering Change Notices related to composite fabrication
- Develop and/or maintain HCB composites manufacturing standards
- Develop and/or maintain all standards relating to adhesive, caulks, and silicone
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree - Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical preferred
- Must have experience with various types of composite manufacturing processes, including gel coating, vacuum infusion, resin transfer molding, open molding, and tooling fabrication
- Must have experience utilizing engineering tools and methods in a manufacturing environment
- Good written and oral communication skills, and ability to work independently on assigned tasks
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and 2D/3D CAD (NX preferred)
- Must have the ability to work with all levels of the organization
- Must be willing to work with composites production crew
