RHI Magnesita is looking for a dynamic Process Improvement Engineer. Our Process Improvement Engineer/Engineering Technician supports continual optimization projects and efforts of manufacturing processes to maintain high quality and efficient production. Provides a deep understanding of the technical theory behind the process. Encompasses an ability to utilize various analytical tools and reports to uncover problematic root causes. Has the personality of a "change agent" with the ability to effectively persuade resistances to change. Works cross-functionally with other members of the team and support departments to aid in the manufacturing process.

Tasks will include:

• Commits to safety as a top priority with participation in preventative safety actions including system entries, audits and risk assessments.
• Be a technical point of contact with an expert knowledge of the heat treatment processes. (Two tunnel kilns and one periodic kiln)
• Understand and help implement all production and quality guidelines/procedures.
• Be a resource in Six Sigma and Lean methodology to support continuous improvement, 6S, TPM, Obeya meetings, and RCAs.
• Run routine process reports.
• Analyze reports and production data to uncover potential problematic root causes influencing production efficiency and/or quality.
• Develop and facilitate the Implementation of follow-up corrective actions with specific focus on improving production scrap rates. Perform experimental trials for new improvement ideas following ISO 9001 standards.
• Audit kiln conditions, scrap rates and scrap categorization with accountability to investigate and uncover root causes behind target variances and follow up with implementation of corrective actions/projects.
• Utilize PI System Data Historian to query data, develop reports, request data-triggered notifications, etc.
• Interact with an ERP system (SAP) to enter maintenance work orders, enter purchase requisitions, view inventory levels, manage capital projects, and run reports.
• Mentor production employees in Lean and Process Control methodologies and development.
• Effectively lead reoccurring meetings to communicate scrap results and maintain accountability on the corrective action plan. Interact cross-functionally with all the local (and relevant global) departments including Global MCCs, Global Process Technology, Procurement, Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, R&D, and Quality Control.
• Have "influence without authority" to institute change throughout the plant.

About you:

• Relevant process improvement work in an industrial/manufacturing field is preferred.
• Computer literacy: MS Office 365 Platform (Power Point, Power Automate, Power Apps, & Power BI), Pi Vision, Minitab, SAP, Fiori, Programming/Coding Experience.
• Strong mathematical skills with a fundamental understanding of statistical analysis.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to complete tasks/projects in a timely fashion with minimal direct supervision
