In Manufacturing Technology and Development, we develop and prove out the future of manufacturing at Ford before it hits the plant floor. We work closely with R&D, the VME skill teams, and the plant teams to help drive cost savings and quality improvements in all that we do.
Required:
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline
- Self-motivated, organized, curious, creative, hands-on, and collaborate individual
- Track record of challenging the status quo and implementing new and improved methods
- Willingness to work outside existing comfort zones
- Minimum 2 years direct experience with manufacturing (Plant, VOME, PTME, etc) – preferably across multiple skill teams
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication ability Solid technical foundation with the willingness and ability to both learn and teach
Preferred:
- Ability to manage multiple projects at once with great attention to detail
- Knowledge and experience with Ford IT Systems
- Experience with Industrial Automation – robots, cobots, controls, AGVs / AMRs, AI vision systems, etc
- Knowledge of Mfg 4.0 (Industry 4.0) key principles – data collection and analytics, AI, machine learning, IIOT, Digital Twin Teamcenter, Catia, GCP, and other software experience a plus

Position Duties
- Interface with the Manufacturing Operations and VME skill teams to understand their technical challenges and opportunities.
- Execute projects to support manufacturing needs, implementing new processes and leveraging advanced technologies to improve quality and cost for forward model programs
- Collaborate closely with Advanced Manufacturing and VME Skill Teams to shape program assumptions and identify manufacturing workstreams for program delivery
- Collaborate with cross functional teams (MFG, PD, R&A, MP&L, Suppliers) to deliver planned project deliverables
- Benchmark new advanced technologies and develop supplier partnerships to deliver manufacturing solutions
- Train others on new processes and technology; document technical knowledge and establish standards to ensure flawless launch and execution
- Ensure the identification of lessons learned and their application to subsequent systems.
