THE FLORY STORY
Flory Industries is considered the leader in the field of nut-harvesting equipment, with sales worldwide for harvesting almonds, cashews, chestnuts, figs, hazelnuts, macadamia, pecans, tung nut and walnuts.
The manufacturing facilities and offices are located on the original property purchased in 1909 at 4737 Toomes Road in Salida, California. We have been repairing and building farm machinery since 1936, and now concentrate on building nut-harvesting equipment, flail mowers, vineyard equipment, as well as custom contract metal fabrication.

JOB SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Systems Engineer develops and implements capital and non-capital projects and other system improvements to enhance the safety, quality, on-time delivery, and efficiency of manufacturing processes. This is accomplished in a spirit of continuous improvement and with a goal of operational excellence.

- Developing business cases and project justifications. 20%

JOB DUTIES
- Capital and non-capital projects: Develop project scope, design solutions, develop project justification, and secure appropriate buy-in. Implement projects on time, within budget utilizing a structured methodology.
- Assist with development of annual capital budget.
- Participate in the evaluation of new technologies and industry best practices to improve safety, quality, on-time delivery, efficiency, and lead time of manufacturing processes.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes, at the shop floor level. Identify improvement opportunities and develop solutions to resolve them.
- Participate in the design of new manufacturing lines and revision of existing processes.
- Support Continuous improvement efforts.
- Work with cross-functional groups.
- Demonstrate factual decision-making by collecting, analyzing, and critically evaluating manufacturing and business data.
- Participate in root-cause analysis of process and product issues.
- Prepare project and management reports as required.
- Lead project meetings and give management presentations as required.
- Use 3D and 2D software (Solidworks and AutoCAD) to design fixtures, mechanized or automated equipment, and optimize ship floor layouts.
- Participate as a team member on new product development projects: participate in design reviews and advise on design for manufacturability, check and approve Engineering prints and help validate product and process design.
- Review non-conformance reports, or corrective action requests and provide root cause analysis and solutions using methodical tools such as 5 why analysis, cause & effect diagrams, PDCA, 8D, A3, DMAIC.
