We are looking for a 1st ShiftManufacturing Supervisor in our Transportation Systems Division (TSD) to supervise the assembly, subassembly, testing, material handling and warehouse activities of TSD products in the assigned areas and shifts while maintaining a positive employee relations and work environment.
Essential Functions
- Supervise daily activities and staff required to assemble and test MEPPI products with emphasis on positive employee relations and in accordance with Company policies and procedures and customer specifications.
- Prepare weekly work schedule and daily work assignments for shop floor personnel according to requirements of the production and repair schedule and Brazing Certification program.
- Supervise daily activities and staff required to ensure production materials are properly received, stocked and kitted.
- Develop employees by training, cross-training, and providing continuing education opportunities.
- Plan, coordinate, conduct, and/or attend safety meetings, team meetings, production meetings, supervisor meetings, schedule meetings, and engineering meetings as required.
- Conduct formal performance appraisals for hourly employees to assess employee performance and help employees improve their performance. Administer corrective disciplinary action, resolve employee complaints through impartial investigation, counseling, or corrective action as needed.
- Maintain and monitor employee disciplinary action records, attendance figures, vacation records, paid absence records, accident reports, quality control check sheets and other relevant records as appropriate.
- Ensure shop floor personnel are working safely and are following safety procedures. Conduct or ensure accident investigations involving assigned employees are conducted in a timely and thorough manner.
- Ensure shop floor personnel working with refrigerants are adequately certified in accordance with the EPA section 608 requirements.
- Receive and review all job paperwork, including Job Orders, late releases, and NCR dispositions. Assign work to satisfy those requirements.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of assigned areas. Request special maintenance when necessary. Ensure tools and equipment are in proper working order. Ensure all tools are put away at the end of each shift.
- Ensure quality of assembly and testing work, especially for operations without detailed written procedures.
- Ensure quality of the warehouse and subassembly work, especially for operations without detailed written procedures.
- Participate in the selection process by interviewing job candidates and/or evaluating temporary employees.
- Further the goals and positive, professional image of TSD by effective dealings with customers, partners, and internal departments.
- Know MEPPI's Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and their impact in the workplace.
- Associates Degree in technical or business field, plus a minimum of two years' prior supervisory experience, or equivalent.
- Verbal and written communication skills, emphasizing interpersonal and group presentation skills.
- Detailed knowledge of assembly and testing techniques, processes, and methods.
- Hands-on technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and electronics applications.
