Caterpillar’s Remanufacturing Division is looking for a Manufacturing Project Engineer for our Corinth, Mississippi facility. This position will support process development projects for the continuous improvement of the safety, quality, velocity, and cost of manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
- Providing technical expertise and guidance in major Manufacturing Projects, working with internal/external suppliers to support/improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness.
- Implementing major systems and the coordination of those systems with the total plant.
- Communicating with suppliers to analyze their current or proposed product/process designs to determine feasibility of using existing designs or modifying the designs to improve process and/or product.
- Providing guidance to manufacturing engineers and operators in order to develop high quality products and processes.

Change Control - MFG: Knowledge of the processes and procedures by which a change is identified, evaluated, approved, monitored and documented; ability to manage changes in the production environment and processes effectively.
Level Basic Understanding:
- Explains the basic purpose of change control and consequences of lack of control.
- Identifies common changes to manufacturing equipment, technologies and systems.
- Describes the process for introducing any change to a production environment.
- Describes the associated communication requirements, activities and authorization levels.
Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
Level Working Knowledge:
- Discusses considerations for work cell design and effectiveness monitoring.
- Finds solution for key technical and people problems associated with transformation to lean.
- Explains issues and considerations of implementing lean in own function or area.
- Selects and utilizes tools, techniques and measurements associated with a lean assessment.
- Explains benchmarks and measures of effectiveness of lean.
