Job Description
The ideal candidate for our Process Engineer is someone who can combine strategic decisions with hands-on approach, is excellent at troubleshooting, can think on their feet and is excited about change and new challenges.
Our manufacturing is focused on plastic extrusions, hot air welding and some CNC machining.
The Process Engineer will work on designing new extrusion products and will have the ability to bring their own product ideas to the table. They are responsible for ensuring that the production process produces high quality products, the equipment is properly and timely maintained and process is efficient and effective. This role will report to the Operations Manager and have a dotted line to the Vice President.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and refine processes to improve the efficiency of our equipment and the quality of our products
- Improve and maintain our PM program
- Introduce and/or implement new products or equipment to our current portfolio
- Setup and run experiments on our current equipment, mainly the single screw plastic extruder
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures and implement measures to avoid failures
- Design tooling for new extrusion products
- Support the engineering efforts of the company by providing ideas, comments and drawings
- Perform other duties as required
Experience and Education:
- BA or BS. degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Material Science, Manufacturing) preferred
- 3 to 5 years of experience in manufacturing
- Ability to handle necessary repairs and maintenance tasks
- Excellent prioritization and project management skills
- Exceptional analytical, problem solving and root-cause analysis skills
- Group communication skills with team-orientated focus
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD software with 3D Printing a plus
- Adaptable – adjusts to changing demands, priorities, and objectives
- Dedicated and takes pride in providing a high level of detail towards projects
- The ability to work independently, without regular supervision
