This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will be responsible for developing rocket engine manufacturing processes. As a Valves Manufacturing Planner, you will provide training and support for Manufacturing Engineering processes which utilize system tools, including mBOM creation, change notice submittal, work order authoring, engineering change implementation, nonconformance processing, BOM reconciliation, and work order execution. You will also be responsible for providing oversight for the creation and maintenance of manufacturing plans and authoring and executing work orders for outplant processing. In addition, you will maintain and communicate manufacturing engineering metrics and schedules to accelerate the pace of rocket engine production.

Responsibilities:
  • Train and support Mfg Engineers in the use of system tools to create mBOMs, work order templates, and change notices
  • Train and support Mfg Engineers in the use of system tools to execute work orders including disposition of nonconformances, redlining work orders, revising BOM, BOM reconciliation, and GSE/Tooling maintenance and procurement
  • Provide oversight and guidance for the creation and revision of manufacturing plans to ensure the required information and structure are provided for MRP systems
  • Maintain and communicate manufacturing engineering metrics and schedules
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements to reduce build time and improve safety and quality

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Broad experience in hardware manufacturing: assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, non-destructive testing, leak testing, final acceptance testing of integrated hardware, fabrication, machining, etc
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering processes and procedures, including planning systems
  • 5 or more years of experience in the Aerospace or Industrial manufacturing depending on Grade level (should scale as Assembly Mechanic experience)
  • A continuous improvement mindset. Our job is never complete; we are always optimizing
  • 5 or more years of experience developing detailed plans and schedules
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including working knowledge of GD&T
  • Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc)
  • Ability to develop processes compliant to industry quality systems such as AS9100
  • Very customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances
  • General proficiency with CAD
  • General proficiency with GDT
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
  • Must be physically able to:
    • Support production floor activities
    • Climb stairs and work in small areas
    • Lift and carry 40 lbs

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree or trade school in related discipline and/or 8+ years of Manufacturing Planner, or production experience or a combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing in a Production Environment
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Lean Manufacturing Certifications
  • Experience with production readiness reviews in a manufacturing environment
  • Self-starter, strong bias for action
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Experience with Primavera (P6), CREO, Windchill, Confluence, Jira, Tableau, SQL, MySQL, Power Query, Power Pivot
