JOB TITLE: Manufacturing Laborer
DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing
REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Supervisor
LOCATION: Waverly, Iowa
OVERVIEW:
Performs a wide variety of tasks in support of manufacturing/production processes. Responsible for preparing parts and equipment for paint, including removing previously applied paint, cleaning, and de-greasing, smoothing surfaces, and protecting unpainted surfaces by masking. Cutting structural steel with a saw. Loading, unloading, and running steel shot blast machine. These duties require a strong attention to detail to properly prepare material for the next stage in the manufacturing process.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Wash, clean, and wipe down parts to be painted.
· Load and upload paint booth by hand and with forklift.
· Mask, paper, or grease components when appropriate.
· Handle large structural steel material with overhead hoists.
· Cut material using semi-automated saws.
· Run and maintain shot-blast equipment.
· Use basic hand tools and other small power tools associated with equipment and prep work prior to painting operations.
· Train and work in various areas of production in response to production demands.
· Properly label parts and stage for the next process.
· Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
· All other duties and responsibilities that are assigned.
· Be able to lifting capabilities-75lbs; Push/Pull 100lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· High school diploma or GED
· 1+ years’ experience in painting, blasting, steel handling or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field.
· Must be able to read a tape measure accurately and consistently.
· Good Written and Oral Communication Skills.
· Detail oriented, demonstrated high level of accuracy and to work safely.
· Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within manufacturing.
· Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
· Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
