Manufacturing Engineer Intern

Location: Thomasville, GA

Job Summary: Our Manufacturing Engineering Intern supports the organization by lending assistance to the Engineering and Operations departments in areas such as product enhancements and development, manufacturing processes, and equipment performance. This individual will collaborate with the team on developing creative solutions to support boiler production.

• Involved in all phases of product life cycle and advanced manufacturing initiatives, continuing through production implementation and extending to support of our customer and supply chain
• Design, control, and improve the manufacturing process and system design through a collaborative effort with the value stream team
• Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment.
• Translating engineering design requirements into formal manufacturing process documentation
• Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment
• Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods
• Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency
• Engineering interpretation of technical documentation
• Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams
• Improve performance of the value chain
• All other duties as assigned

Education: Minimum of a Junior status in a four-year Engineering degree program required; candidates pursuing a Postsecondary degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering is strongly preferred; additional schooling or experience in engineering is a plus

Experience, Skills & Qualifications:

• Understanding of Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques, Quality Control, and attention to detail
• Working knowledge with Mechanical Design, 3D modeling, and CAD software experience is preferred
• Apply intellect, creativity, adaptability, judgment, and management skills to achieve required results.
• Ensure duties and company projects are accomplished in an efficient and cost effective manner.
• Support peers and management with internal and external projects.
• Adhere to company policies.
• Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well
• Position requires occasional exercise of problem solving skills.
