Job Description
An established manufacturing company in Rancho Santa Margarita is seeking a Manufacturing Shop Assistant. The ideal candidate needs to be comfortable working around and with machinery, good dexterity, good math skills, GREAT attitude and be willing to do just about any task assigned in the shop and administrative areas. The position is supervised by and reports to the Manufacturing Manager.
There are a number of opportunities to learn and to be involved in various aspects of the company’s manufacturing process. The position is also responsible for receiving incoming deliveries from UPS and FedEx.
This is a temp-to-hire position and starting pay is $20-$22 an hour, based on experience. The hours are Monday – Friday, 7:30AM to 4:00PM
PURPOSE & SCOPE OF POSITION
- Grinding and/or cutting material to specification based on work orders.
- Polish component parts in preparation for delivery to final assembly.
- Must be aware of and follow all safety policies, including personal protection equipment, housekeeping, MSDS, etc.
- Immediately report any equipment malfunctions or downtime to the supervisor.
- Retrieve daily assignments via the use of Shop Floor software or as assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintain good housekeeping; clean work areas as instructed
- Perform maintenance tasks as requested
- Receive and distribute incoming deliveries from UPS and FedEx.
- From time to time, the supervisor may assign duties not specific to the Manufacturing department.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Basic math and counting skills
- High school graduate or equivalent education.
- Excellent manual dexterity and able to handle very small parts.
- Able to communicate in English; able to comprehend written and verbal instructions and numerical values.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work efficiently to meet daily production deadlines.
- Able to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Combination of standing, sitting, and extensive use of hands.
- Able to understand and maintain strict and consistent standards of quality.
