Manual Lathe Machinist

Manual Lathe Machinist- $18-$25 DOE

We are searching for a Manual Lathe Machinist for a temp-to-hire position in a family owned shop setting. The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Manual Lathe machinist, perferably in a manufacturing or shop environment. Interested candidates please send your resume to

Job duties: 

• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers
• Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, or materials onto machines 
• Select the approriate tools, machines and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work
• Monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process
• Machine Parts to specifications, using machine tools, such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders
• Meausre, examine, or test completed units to check for defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments.
• Dispose of scrap of waste material in accordance with company policies and environmental regulations 
• Evaluate experimental procedures, and recommend changes or modifications for improved efficiency and adaptability to setup and production 

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience operating Manual Lathe Machines if applicant can operate both lathe and Mill this is a major plus 
• Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to procuce precision parts and instrument 
• know how to fabricate, modify or repair mechanical instruments 
• Make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines 
• Apply knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures
