Overview

Lifeway is seeking an Managing Editor, Speciality Bibles & Reference | Remote who provides strategic direction and oversight for the portfolio of Specialty Bibles & Reference products and resources. Works alongside Associate Publishers and Director of Bibles on pipeline planning. Responsible for ensuring production schedules and project deadlines are being met on Specialty Bibles and Reference titles.

This is a remote position in the U.S. with occasional travel to Nashville for in-person team gatherings. #LI-Remote

Responsibilities

• Manages the production process of specialty Bibles and reference titles
• Involved in, though not limited to, front-end communication on development and execution of contract
• Communicates with authors/contributors on content deliverables
• Assigns and communicates deadlines with internal editors and external partners
• Communicates with design about interior, cover, and packaging design
• Coordinates with production about typesetting, proofing, etc.
• Fulfills some editorial duties on the development of content alongside internal editors for key releases with both Bibles and reference titles  
• Provides strategic direction to specialty Bibles and reference titles by performing industry and competitor research
• Provides strategic ideation with other stakeholders in the development of new Bibles and reference titles 
• Works with analyst to submit proforma requests on prospective projects
• Oversees the execution of proforma details with titles slotted for publication 
• Collaborates with associate publisher and publisher
  • planning cycle of titles, sku assortment, specs, etc.
  • to develop agenda and presentation assets for pub board;
• Collaborates with marketing to produce optimal product copy
• Collaborates to ensure cycle work is completed on time
• Attends relevant professional conferences or brand events
• Occasional travel for author/contributor work with department publisher  
• Some travel required, ocassionally overnight

Qualifications

Education Required

Bachelor's degree in business, biblical studies, theology or similar, required

 

 

Required Experience / Skills

• Lives out Lifeway's mission and values, showing deep commitment to Kingdom work
• 5+ years stewarding publishing project processes
• Ability to multi-task multiple projects, assignments, and responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, productivity and project planning tools
• Excellent verbal and written communciator
• Retail and CBA industry knowledge, preferred

Member or actively involved in an evangelical Christian church

SBC, preferred
