Job Description
The Managing Director of Public Engagement will be responsible for developing, managing, and executing initiatives that build the UP Partnership brand, maximizing community understanding of the Future Ready Bexar County plan and its impact, and advancing key public policy priorities related to the plan. They will lead the organization in building Future Ready engagement platforms with neighborhood residents and families, regularly reporting to the San Antonio community on the plans progress, and driving strategic communications with key elected officials as well as local, regional, and national funders.
The Managing Director of Public Engagement must be knowledgeable in all forms of marketing, fundraising techniques, and policy / advocacy. They should have a deep understanding of the non-profit sector as well as an ability to create long-term relationships with potential partners. They will drive our organizational sustainability, strengthen our public profile, and oversee major community-facing initiatives and communications. They will also play a pivotal role in driving unified operations, ensuring clarity on roles and work priorities, operationalizing new efficiencies. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer. Specific responsibilities include:
Supervision, Personnel and Internal Partnerships
?Plan and execute on all development goals, both through direct project leadership and through oversight Development team,
?Supervise Director of Communications and support their advancement of all communications and public affairs priorities, including support of communications staff projects.
?Supervise the Director of Policy. Ensure highly effective and streamlined communications across major public stakeholders and elected officials.
?Actively partner with the Managing Director of Programs and Director of Data and Information Management to advance and elevate impact reporting on a consistent basis..
?Partner with the Directors Table in ensuring alignment across institutionally tailored partner messaging, major public campaigns, and consistent impact reporting.
?Maintain both operational and strategic coordination across internal teams and tables.
Internal Integration
?Lead organizational integration across all messaging and development priorities, building an integrated approach to public affairs, engagement, and development across departments.
?Support tailored and responsive communications across Future Ready Leadership and Joint Leadership tables, systems change networks, and continuous improvement collaboratives, inclusive of clear, powerful, and appropriate partner updates.
?Model and reinforce high-integrity use of collective impact methods and Results Counts across the partnership structure in support of Future Ready Bexar County plan implementation.
?Support the implementation and evolution of the Future Ready Plan, ensuring internal alignment.
?Maintain and deepen organization-wide commitment to racial and ethnic equity.
Public Engagement and Affairs?Strategically develop, manage, and execute initiatives that deepen community partnerships, authentically engage families and residents alongside Future Ready partners, and maximize public understanding of the impact of both UP Partnership and Future Ready partners.
?Lead the organization in advancing the brand of the Future Ready Bexar County plan. Strengthen local, regional, and national partnerships, including other place-based intermediaries and funders.
?Build and maintain professional relationships with leaders across the partnership structure, foundation leaders and staff, individual donors, communications professionals, community leaders and organizers, and elected officials.
Development and Impact Reporting
?Oversee the development and execution of all fundraising activities, including campaigns, events, corporate sponsorships, and other donor-related initiatives. Support, strengthen and maintain high-quality relationships with current funders. Actively develop new partnerships with both individual and institutional philanthropic partners.
?Ensure that UP Partnership meets all revenue goals in active partnership with the Chief Executive Officer. Drive the effective engagement of philanthropic partners and the general public in the communitys shared mission to ensure all young people in Bexar County are ready for the future.
?Drive regular impact reporting to the San Antonio community. Partner with UP Partnership leadership team to build and execute the organizational plan to communicate strategic impact and progress across initiatives to multiple stakeholders, including media, elected officials and funders.
Project Management
?Maintain an attitude of complete ownership of team results and outcomes.
?Oversee all budgeting, forecasting, and tracking for Development, Communications, and Policy departments.
?Oversee high-quality reporting on impact strategies in partnership with the Managing Director of Programs,Director of Data and Information Management, and Chief Impact and Strategy Officer. Organize and lead external messaging for the implementation of the Future Ready Plan, including the deepening of partner institutions.
Sustainability and Operations
?Coordinate with the Senior Leadership Team to build coordinated messaging, advocacy, and development competencies across UP Partnership staff and partners.
?Support the Senior Leadership Team in grant writing, impact reporting, and growth planning.
?Strengthen, maintain and support internal systems and processes.
?Anchor and positively contribute to organizational culture and model UP Partnership values.
?Lead and/or support other UP Partnership initiatives and meetings as needed.
