As the Managing Director of EHS, Compliance, and Vetting, you will be a key leader responsible for overseeing and enhancing the company's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, ensuring strict adherence to regulatory requirements, and managing the vetting process for our vessels. This critical role will involve developing and implementing policies, procedures, and initiatives to promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout the organization. This position requires a seasoned professional with excellent leadership skills and a proven track record in managing diverse projects and teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Environmental, Health and Safety:

  • Develop, implement, and continually enhance comprehensive EHS programs to prioritize the well-being of employees and safeguard the environment.
  • Stay abreast of industry developments, network with counterparts, and remain at the forefront of industry-leading practices.
  • Apply behavioral management principles and interpret statistical data and diagnostics to drive a safety-conscious culture.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to instill a culture of safety awareness and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of regulations affecting the maritime transportation industry.
  • Develop and manage systems to ensure the company's compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with regulatory authorities and industry bodies.

Vetting:

  • Oversee the vetting process for all vessels, working closely with operations management, captains, and relevant teams.
  • Ensure vessels meet industry and client-specific vetting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vetting entities and industry stakeholders.

Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the EHS, Regulatory Compliance, and Vetting teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS and compliance considerations into business strategies.
  • Represent the company on behalf of Safety and Vetting, fostering positive relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned by the President of CTC.

Educational and Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Maritime Studies, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role with a focus on EHS, regulatory compliance, and vetting within the maritime transportation industry.
  • Strong knowledge of USCG regulations and maritime best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong data analytic skills with demonstrated ability to identify trends and develop actionable takeaways
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and engage employees at all levels in the pursuit of safety and compliance goals.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices and a commitment to staying abreast of emerging trends.
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail and consistent follow-through are essential. Proven ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines is necessary.
  • This role may require up to 50% travel.

Physical Capabilities:

  • This position will work in an office environment setting.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
